Anyone throwing a Tropical Heat Solid?
« on: February 17, 2012, 03:12:31 PM »
How strong is it for you guys? What layout are you using? I got a used one from a friend, thinking of drilling it 4" pin to PAP, pin under bridge and putting it at 3000 sanded as a step up above my polished Onyx Vibe. How do you like it? I'm assuming it would be a good benchmark ball with a little bit of surface on it?

I just got mine drilled friday with a 4 1/2 layout with the pin over and between the fingers for my 39 ft sat league pattern. I will post a review onit after my league ends.

The Heat Solid is a strong piece IMO. I roll this bomber on 39' synthetics on the medium-light volume side. I've kept it OOB since it matches up with the house and my style. For THS I bowl on, with a slight OB - no true bumpers, this ball is a good benchmark ball. But, if the lanes had more units on the surface, the Crossroad could be a better benchmark ball. (I love the roll/reaction of this new hybrid)

The ball is drilled 5 x 4, putting the pin above my RF. Because of the pin being higher, I get more jump off the spot. The ease up front, the stored energy, allows this ball to recover on bad shots, yet hold line on pulled ones too. balls that makes me look good even though I'm a bad bowler, is a great ball to have lol.
