Getting ready for Reno and I have narrowed my new ball purchase down to the following 3; IQ Tour, Marvel S or the Disturbed. I'm planning on taking my IQ Fusion and polished Sync along with my plastic for spares.

My pap is 4 over 1/4 up and I can either come up the side or stay behind the ball depending on the condition. My rev rate is between a stroker and a tweener, I guess I'd be a streeker.

My driller thinks I should go with the Marvel S, but I didn't care for the Nano at all and I believe it has the same coverstock. Any thoughts?

Your Sync has that same cover too.  Don't let that turn you off the Marvel-S.  Its a really fantastic ball.  Its also a symmetrical ball opposed to the Nano being asymmetrical.  They should roll quite differently.

I would go with the IQ Tour with a pin down layout for low flare.  Backends are flying there, so that ball with a low flare layout will tame the backends for you.

My PAP is the same as yours. Hyper Cell mild, and Zero Gravity and a Mild drill Fusion is going down with me next week, along with my Storm Belmo spare ball. Should move when out of the oil. Be wary of strong drillings !

Thanks for all the responses. I was leaning toward the IQ Tour and I just needed some confirmation. I also have seen alot of Hyper Cells and Zero Gravitys in play on bowltv, but I can always adjust the surface of my Sync if I find out the lanes are too slick on the fresh. I'll be bowling the Journal prior to our team event so, I should have a good idea at how the lanes will be playing and if I'll need to tweak any surfaces.

Lots of options work well in the team event.  Doubles is where the transitions get really tricky.  For my game the tour fusion would be  good choice.  I started with  Blue Vibe that I shot 690 with in team event.  By the 5th frame that ball was not working.  Eventually went to my IQ solid and finished with 250 my last game of doubles.  Singles was a bit tougher because one of my teammates tears the cover off the ball inside 4th arrow.  My Marvel Pearl was the best option at the end.

Don't forget the BJ is the D/S pattern.  Also, you are not suppose to adjust any surfaces after leaving the squad room (after checking in your balls)  However, that doesn't stop people from doing it and it doesn't seem to be enforced, but still, not supposed to do it (Open Championships rule, not standard USBC rule)

I was unaware that you had to go through the squad room to get to the BJ and that once you bowled the BJ you had to exit through the squad room. Perhaps I should re-evaluate my choices. Thanks for the info.

You do not go through the squad room for the BJ.

 I think we got our conversation crossed a little  :)

You said you're bowling the B/J before Team and would have a good idea of how the lanes are playing..  Just wanted you to know it's the D/S pattern for the BJ not the Team pattern..   Also you don't use the squad room for the B/J, it's on the high end on it's own, a little away from the "Main Event."  I was just mentioning altering surfaces before Team and Minors is all..
