Box Surface of Hy-Road

Hey all, I have a quick question... I am going to resurface my Hy-road, I know the box is 1500 polished... I dont have 1500 at the moment, and was thinking of doing either 1000 polished or 2000 polished. what would you guys recommend? I am up to any other surface suggestions. I am going to use this probably as my benchmark ball if that helps.

1000 abralon and Reacta Shine will get you close enough for government work too factory OOB.

I did the same thing last season with my Hyroad. Used the storm 3 step system of polishes. used step 1, 4 sides, step 2, 4 sides, then step 3 6 sides. Ball turned out to have a pretty good sheen on it. I knocked that down with an old 2000 abralon pad. The ball was like new once I was done. The Storm polish system is the best for resurfacing by hand on a ball spinner in my opinion.

Storm has been specifying "1500" grit polished for more years than I care to think about. As such, their "1500" is more than likely US/CAMi and not the FEPA grade that you are thinking of when you say Abralon (Abralon uses FEPA graded abrasives). So their 1500 grit US/CAMI is equivalent to approximately P3000 grit FEPA. Abralon and SiaAir pads do come in P3000 grit pads.

You can use these pads and a non abrasive polish to emulate the original finish on a Hy-Road.

If you use a lower numeric rating pad or abrasive and then an abrasive polish, the finish will, at best, approximate the original finish, IF YOU GET VERY LUCKY.

When I redid my shift (1500 grit poish) I e-mailed storm tech and I was told to 500 abralon pad, the gray scotchbrite pad, and then use storm finish 2.

i just touched up one of my hyroads... did 400grt used sandpaper 2sides 10 seconds ea.. then 1000ab (slightly used) 4sides 30sec ea, then step 3.

ball hooks more than it when i first got.. finally have a good gap between the 2!! pretty happy with the end results

Pretty close to oob on the shift.  I did the same to my rapid fire solid after I hit it with a 1k pad, and it seems to have a little more reaction then OOB but that might have been caused by bowling more games on it and getting some lines into it.

1500 with my surface factory pro as per Storm Tech dept
500/2 min
1000/3 min
polish cycle 2 min
This is the Storm factory process for the 1500 surface!

Is the process different for different balls?  Storm tech gave me different instructions for my rapid fire solid and it has the same 1500 grit polish finish as other storm balls.
