Broad Question
« on: April 14, 2014, 06:36:39 PM »
I was reading another poster's question and it gave me something else to think about. I already decided to pick up a Zero Gravity this summer to dominate patterns with some oil; however, I still need a medium oil ball that is rolly with a clean motion upfront. I realize I am not a fan of the flip motion. As nice as it looks, it isn't what I need. The right surface is what really matters to me. What do you all recommend?

this sounds interesting.  Does it handle oil better with the 2000 finish or is it just a smoother medium/light oil ball?

Doesn't handle anymore oil, I use Asylum/Hyper Cell for heavier oil. But it does give me the smooth continuous hook when lanes breaking down.

The Hy-Road isn't made to handle oil. It is for medium at best. After that, it skids down the lane. Yes my rev rate is high, but I also release the ball about 20-21 mph. R2X is even a stretch.

Reign on is definitely not smooth and the Reign of Power's cover is a little too much. I spoke to my pro shop guy and a few other of my advisors tofay. They all said that I should be looking at the Asylum.

With proper layouts, the reign on can indeed be smooth. Thr Asylum will be a ball up on the Zero. It will be smoother, but for me it is more overall. Just a suggestion.

The Reign of Power is R2S, but earlier you said its not strong enough, but today the cover is a little too much?

the Reign of Power is the PFT solid. Great rolling piece at 2000. Reminds me of the Asylum.

Thank you for adding that tkkshop.

I asked about the Reign of Power a few months ago. I was told that it would burn up for me unless I used it with some polish. That defeats the purpose of me getting a ball that I can use on oil. I am going to stay with the Asylum and see how that works out for me. I normally have great success with a ball that has an earlier read and great continuation. If I am not mistaken, that is what the Asylum is made to do.

The Asylum is a great choice. I feel it is a little stronger than the Zero, but they are a great 1-2 on medium heavy as they do differ in motion. Good luck with your new pieces!

Thanks everyone. I have one last question. How would an !Q Tour Sold compare to an Asylum? I am definitely going to get both;I just want to know if I'll need to change the surface on them and drill the Asylum differently.I am trading my Lights Out for an !Q Tour Solid.

To anyone who will probably bash me for the !Q Tour, please understand that the core is strong enough for the R2S solid. The Reign of Power has a core that will promote more length.

The Tour Solid is a weaker version of the Zero. A weaker cover and a weaker core, but for me very similar motions. The Zero will handle heavier volumes up front due to the stronger cover as well. My Tour solid is more of a bench piece. Predictable and continuous. I think the Asylum will me stonger in the mids. Layouts and your style may yield a different result. I am also 20 mph at release and 450 plus rev rate.

The reign of power is sooner than the tour solid. The reign on has the same length with more angle for me. The cam core has a much higher rg than the tour series cores. I feel you will go Asylum, Zero, Tour solid, Hyroad. Thats some great choices to have in your bag!
