Due to a new job transfer, i will be only doing tournaments this coming season which is alright by me. I also want to build a good arsenal for tournaments. I plan on doing most of the local, state, some PBA regionals in the area, and maybe the TAT or High Rollers and of course Nats in Baton Rouge.

I currently have a Virtual Energy drilled approx 5.5" x 45deg, pin above index finger with MB about 2" right of Thumb. I love the reaction i get on THS and the carry is awesome. I want to build an arsenal of about 5-6 balls so i can easily go up and down the lineup.

There are so many balls to choose i dont want to overlap if i can help it. For all you Storm fanatics out there, any suggestions will be helpful. Ill get a pic of the VE up tomorrow for reference. If anyone also has any used Storm equipment that i may be interested in, lmk. Id prefer fully plugged, s/d, color matched equipment 15lbs.

Or any NIB stuff would be considered. Thanks. GREG

I personally would try a Hybrid Tropical Heat (silver one), Invasion (because they are going so cheap now), Victory Road (best ball in my arsenal by far), Marvel, and maybe a Nano. The only sucky storm balls I have bought lately are those orange tropical heats... I dont think they are good for anything but league.

What kind of span do you use? I may have some for sale... I currently have like 20 balls in my arsenal.

Definitely get something for the slicker conditions. Marvel has a more controllable (smooth arc), NANO has more of a strong motion (slightly snappy) off the spot. Both have there place in any bag.

Think medium and either a Reign Supreme comes into play or a Victory Road. Both would compliment and RS has some more versatility if you put abralon on it when needed.

If you want a benchmark ball to read with, Victory Road Solid is a good place to go. Lay it out pretty standard so you can read the condition and make tweaks from there. If your willing to go into the Roto line-up, an Outlaw might be even better here since the diff on the block makes it slightly less flaring.

Dryer or less oil would be a great place for a Trop Heat Hybrid or Rising Star. Use you abralon to slow either down as they are both slightly stronger than advertised.

A good spare/bone dry combo ball might be a Tropical Breeze pearl. I drilled the pink one and it has a nice motion for a very low powered ball. Don't get me wrong, it will go pretty direct. But this should be the equivalent of the Power Groove Dry if anyone remembers that ball.

I wouldn't be afraid to look at Roto Grips line also to plug in gaps. A lot of bowlers get into this mindset that Roto is "more of the same" from Storm and it is not. I didn't see a motion like the solid Nomad in Storm's line for awhile.

I think the Virtual Energy will still have a place in your bag. Definitely build from there by going either with the Nano or Invasion (priced to sell as it was discontinued.) I prefer the snappy reaction of the Nano but both are very comparable. From there, the Victory Road is a great choice (either the pearl or solid), and you could go with the Tropical Heat hybrid.

Don't be afraid to check out Roto Grip either- they really have some great balls out lately. I picked up a Nomad Dagger and a Rising Star. The Dagger is a great benchmark ball and it does a great job of reading the lanes. The Rising Star is great on the dry, and it is one of the hardest hitting dry balls that has been out in a while. The new Outlaw and Bandit are very good choices as well.

I have more success with high end roto stuff, & mid/low end storm stuff...but thats just me...

Nano and Anarchy for heavy or fresh shots. Your VE and a VR Pearl or Solid for Medium Heavy to Medium shots. Trop Heat Hybrid and a Natural Pearl or Solid for Medium to Burnt Conditions. This set up should allow you to play any shot. Stay away from the Invasion no matter how cheap it is. That ball was a paper weight.

Balls in the bag and order they come out:
#1/2 Nano and Anarchy #3- Virtual Energy #4- Gravity Shift #5- Big Hit (spare and really dry)
#6- Teal Rhino Pro (oldie but a goodie)

You certainly have a plethora of options and a good ball to build around in the VE. Im partial to symmetrical balls so not including a Victory Road Solid and Pearl in my opinion would be foolish. Now, you need something to sit atop your arsenal. Im not sure what type of motion you like on oil, something smooth? Or something flippier in the back? Smooth? Go Marvel. More on the back? Nano.

Now you can shift your focus to more niche/control balls. The Reign Supreme and Tropical Heat Hybrid would be good fits. Both balls are excellent starting to the right and controlling the friction.

There has been a lot of good info in this thread! Here a few i'd take a look at.

Oil: Roto Grip Outlaw (probably the strongest ball out of the storm plant.)

Virtual Gravity Nano (can't go wrong.)

Med heavy: Marvel, Marvel Pearl.

Med: Victory Road (i feel i can throw this on 80% of all condtions), Critical Theory

Med-light: Tropical Heat Hybrid: or the Dark Star.

All these balls are VERY good! Good luck to you.
