Cant make up my mind!! Trifecta or Fear Factor??
« on: August 02, 2006, 03:43:46 PM »
I keep thinking about the Fear Factor and I have talked to a few who have agreed the Fear Factor is the better ball. I have never rolled the Trifecta, but I here its suppose to roll like the Vertigo but be stronger. I throw the ball around 15.5-16.5 mph. I recently switched to 14's and I get a decent amount of hand in the ball. Right now I have a Pyro, Thunderstruck Solid, and a Hotrod Hybrid. Please help me here! What should I get?

Depends how much FLOOD you're bowling on.
The FF is a monster.

Well I want it for Floods, OOB, Carry Down out the Wazoo, When the lanes are dry and I have to play 30 or 35 out to 5, etc...

The FF really starts to shine up after some use, but other than that, bowling with it on a flood, I'd make it your pick.
Do not attempt to use it on anything else BUT the flood.
It'll burn up QUEEK, and won't carry for sheet.

The Trifecta is a little bit more versatile from what I hear...

The trifecta hasn't got the job done for me on floods, the Fear Factor and its higher load particle would be better. But with both of the balls they need extensive cleaning and special care like sanding the ball lightly ever 15-20 games and baking the oil out and some other minor things if you want them to last. From what i've seen the Trifecta has been great but its more of just a heavy-medium oil ball. THe fear factor can handle floods.

Good Luck with your decision

Thanks Mike. I think I will go with the Fear Factor. I clean my bowling stuff really well and every single week I give my bowling balls a bath lol. Im not to worried about the maintenance.

Glad to hear it, some people just don't and then complain and complain about ball death, but I bet the ball will be great for you and I hope you enjoy it. My buddy enjoyed all 350+ games he had on his and he eventually at about 300 or so games and the third baking and resurface polished it up and he now has a great Medium-Medium Light ball that doesn't have any idea what carrydown is and it just plows.

Lol... Well hopefully I wont be doing that. I dont plan on using it much. I mean I do have the Pyro and Thunderstruck Solid and those are some sweet freaking balls! The only time I will need to pull the Fear Factor out is when Im playing up the OOB, There is a flood, Carry Down is terrible because of plastic bowlers, or when the lanes are so dry I have to get really deep and make sure something comes back. I have thrown the Fear Factor and loved it. I have never thrown the Trifecta. Thanks for the everyones opinion!

Fear factor: i buy two of this, and never be happy, the ball reaction is smooth and the ball only have a nice middle lane arc, is a control ball, nice for medium to oil conditions.

Trifecta: this one is the same action in the middle lane BUT the reaction is more powerFull a great HOOK.

iF yo need a nice ball for medium to heavy try the agent.. i but one and its just GREAT! this ball can be your first BIg Striking Ball!

I have a Fear Factor, with a 1 1/2" pin, drilled for early roll.  Then sanded at 400.

This ball rolls early, nice continous hook, with strong back ends and good to great pin carry.

This ball can only be used on flooded conditions.

Also, as noted by others, needs regular maintance.

I highly recommend.  I have never used a trifecta.  So I am unable to compare.

Thanks everyone. Well I get a good amount of hand in the ball and Im able to play anywhere from 30-5. I can take a 3-5 step approach. I might keep the Fear Factor at 800 more than likely, but need be I will take it to 1000.
