Who hit theirs with some surface or atleast changed the oob 1500 polished? Not quite sure I like what I'm seeing out of it yet. Quite over/under.

The big deal with the Codes is that the cores are way stronger than the covers, so they hit the lane revving and chugging and then ultimately don't hook as much as you'd expect. Just have to be easier with them, but I HAVE seen a lot of people knock the polish off the Red and it's looked really good.

I went 70 x 5.25 x 30 to try and get that revving pushed down lane and wonder if I went too extreme with that cover and surface.

I see the total opposite of what Luke is saying. I had no plans to buy this ball. Threw two differently drilled ones at a demo day and both rolled so well that I had to get one. Hell, one was even drilled pin way up to the left with the mass bias on the left side - marked for a lefty (I'm right handed). But the rep wanted me to throw it.

My PAP is about 5" over, so that put the pin a good distance away. I ended up having mine drilled with the pin over the middle finger and the mass bias kicked a little to the right of the thumb hole. The ball is a beast on fresh oil. I can throw it with speed and it reacts inside or out. I only need to put it away when the shot forces me more inside and to throw more away from the pocket. Then it starts to lose too much energy.

I typically hate the 1500 polish box finish on symmetric balls, but for some reason, I've found it to be fine on the asymmetrics. Not sure why. But the NRP, Code Black and Code Red all rolled well out of the box. I thought about removing the polish and going 3000 or 4000 with it, but it's rolling so well right now. I'm just going to let it continue to lane "shine" and probably leave it there.

I like the shine on mine though, it's just tamer overall than I expected. Some people are having over/under issues because they think it's going to do more than it does. For me, I was able to just drill it like I drill everything else because that core is so strong that it balances everything out.

My Red with a 4 1/4" pin and 4 1/2" PSA does well pretty much as is, just a very light scuff with a worn 3000 pad. My first Code Black was the same pin, but 5 3/4" PSA (drilled it out of the thumbhole) and it is very mild. I decided to drill a second Black with a 3 1/2" pin and 4 1/2" PSA straight down my VAL and it is sooo much quicker to roll and read the lane, but as Luke says, the cover lets the ball skate over the fronts. I like the higher flaring layout on the stronger drill as it uses the strength of the core for wider flare rings and actually makes the ball round off on the lane. The Red is a good compliment to the second Black. I can just step in a couple boards and feed it right, the stronger cover blends nicely where the Black cover wants to skate or stand up on down lane transition.

Interesting. Maybe I need to add an x-hole for a little more flare and keep box surface.

About at the end of my rope with my Code Red. Just can't get a decent reaction with ball. So much over under for me. Have gone up to 4000 with polish and all the way down to 1000 dull. Ball just doesn't give me any room for error. Miss right ball just doesn't have enough to carry the 10. Miss in ,through the nose. The minute I switch to a different ball my miss room returns. Hard to figure out. I must be the only one that doesn't love the ball. Last attempt is taking it up to 3000 dull. Really liking my Show Off so far. Maybe asymmetric is not for me.

That was my experience so far. Switched to the IQ Tour and somehow had double the miss room. Happen to know the layout you went with?

Possibility. I'll play with mine some more and see what I come up with before abandoning it so quickly.
