depth charge replacement
« on: July 24, 2005, 02:10:10 PM »
my friend loves his 2 depth charges and is either looking for another nib or he wants to know what would a replacement be that had a similar reaction.

What weight is he looking for?

I have a NIB #16 with great specs that I will sell.

Message me if interested.

If he wants a different ball, I'd suggest the Ace, if he likes the DC, why not just get another one ?

I agree on both counts. The Ace is 1/2 a step stronger which can be controlled by drilling. But if he likes the DC so much, get another. They are still available in many places, but might not be for much longer. Otherwise, check out the Roto-Grip Oracle Vision with a little bit of polish added.

But another Depth Charge...

...unless I'm missing something, the ball is still a current offering from Storm.

You are not missing anything, it's still in the line up, for now. You know, all companies release several times a year, but I expect the DC to go away, with the next release, I could be wrong, JMO.

If you're sticking with Storm, I would get the Fired Up.  Better Core and Coverstock combination.

While we are talking about core / cover comination how about this...

...depth charge core with a fired up coverstock, sound good?

It's what Storm released overseas as a Storm El Nino Level 1...I just happen to have one at home waiting to get drilled!

I have both a DC and a Fired Up...drilled pretty much the same...pin under ring cg stacked...the fired up is a lot more even than the depth charge..the depth charge is a little stronger through the midlane...a little bit more snappy for me..I would personally go with an ace...

IMO the Depth Charge has a unique reaction.  The closest ball that I own would be the ACE, but my Depth Charge gets down the lane a little cleaner.

If I wanted to replace my DC (which I don't) I'd just get a new one.

The DC cover is pearl particle, and the Ace is also pearl particle.
I think the Ace would be the closest ball to the DC.
