drill question
« on: August 24, 2009, 03:43:41 PM »
i'm thinking of getting a fast and furious for my league season. How would you drill them to give them different looks and different oil capabilities? Im thinking the fast drilled for length for lighter and the furious for medium to light-heavy conditions. i know without seeing be roll or all mt stats it may be tough to say, but in theory, what would you consider for drilling?

I'd go with a Fast with a long pin and drill it with the pin above the fingers, something 4.5-5" from the PAP and put the CG stacked - for length and a late, sharper reaction for medium-light to medium conditions. Keep it polished.

The Furious would IMHO be a good complement with the pin under the fingers and in a stronger position, say 4" from PAP, and either with the CG stacked, too (calls for a short pin), or think about swinging the CG out towards the PAP, up to 45° - which will create a very smooth and early roll (and might need a balance hole), good for long oil and fresh lanes, keep the ball matte. I am just not sure if the ball has the potential to tackle real soup, but in league you might not face such extremes?

drilling balls that even slightly overlap is a waste of your money. make them different and you will cover a wider variety of conditions. i have never understood people who drill 5 balls the same and cant understand why they have problems and need yet another ball. different surfaces and layouts will serve you well. good luck! by the way both are excellent balls.
