First thoughts of lights out

Just had the lights out drilled up to compliment my IQ pearl. I must say this ball is a lot more ball than the price tag shows. Mine has a 3 inch pin and is drilled pin over ring with the cg kicked out ever so slightly. The ball goes long and turns the corner finishing extremely hard through the deck. What are others thoughts on this release thus far?

I wasnt sure if I wanted to try this one or the frantic being that I never punched one up (#1) and I LOVE my crossroad and wrecker...

I love utah hybrids!...

Can anyone compare...
The lights out to the frantic, wrecker, and crossroad?

I talked to a staffer friend today and he said this thing will be the ball of the year at the mid price range. He said it's the same shape as his HyRoad and doesn't start up as early as the HyRoad when they transition.  He threw 11 games on a THS and never lost angle when he moved in.  He had two 299s and a 277 with the back 11 in those 11 games.

IMO any all black release will look like a winner on the lanes :-)

Total agree about the ball color, I just got mine drilled and have not thrown it yet.
I will say this its a neat looking ball very strong, I think the colors are great.
Interesting in that the pin is black, hard to see it, but I like it! 8)

Come on... the Black Out couldn't have any other color pin!

Ball looks tough. If I was going to put something together from Storm, this ball would be in the mix for sure.

I have or have had all of the balls you listed.  Strength wide they go Crossroad, Frantic, Wrecker, Lights Out. 

I currently have the Crossroad & Lights Out and they compliment each other great (similar layouts).  The Lights Out for me isn't all that flippy on the back, but clears the fronts great and continues nicely as well.  The Crossroad is my benchmark ball right now and the Lights Out is easily 4 weaker.

I'd put the Wrecker as about the same reaction wise to the Lights Out, except the Wrecker for me was much more angular.  The Frantic was more ball than the Wrecker and Lights Out but less than the Crossroad, unless the surface was changed as that ball was a beast with the cover knocked off of it.

I'm drilling a Freakin Frantic this weekend and i'm assuming it will be more than the Lights Out and maybe the same overall strength as the Crossroad but with a different shape to it (assuming the layouts are similar)

Tropical Heat Hybrid used the Reactor Cover while the Lights Out uses the R2S cover.  Both have the same core (Turbine) and different finishes, 1500 grit polished for Lights Out and 4000 abralon for the Heat.  With the surface difference the Heat will handle a bit more volume and for me has a smoother transition on the back part of the lane.  For the money the Heat hybrid is awesome on a THS

Ball is ok, very long. Almost too long. To those looking at this ball to be a "arsenal anchor" strong pins and surface is a must.

id agree 100% with, "storm making is rain." i was a huge fan of the fast and furious, and think the turbine core is one of the most versatile cores ever. this cover adds to that and gives a very similar look to what i get out of my hyroad, just overall less hook and cleaner in the front.

I dunno, just got mine and threw only one game with it during practice on a burnt up shot. It was way too strong for this condition. I was actually throwing my Grenade and it was hooking pretty nice. Then just got the Lights Out straight off the drill press and it was hooking a lot. I'll try it again tomorrow on hopefully better conditions for it.
Btw, I know you guys saying black but mine is dark blue with a touch of what looks like silver. Very nice.

Yeah you are right, but from a distance it looks black.

Had my Lights Out for almost a month now and I absolutely love this ball! I have it drilled strong and it is very versatile.  Been using it at my sport shot league on old wood lanes and on synthetics at a couple of different houses where i practice, and so far, as long as there is some oil, this ball just works.  Gets through the heads very nicely and a nice strong arc at the break.  Hits hard too.
