Fusion vs Frantic vs Hy-Road vs _________?
« on: June 24, 2014, 07:44:07 PM »
How does the !Q Tour Fusion compare to the bowling balls listed in the question? (or anything else you all recommend for me) I love the R2S Hybrid coverstock! I have a Frantic and a Hy-Road. I've also owned a T-Road Solid (although it was soaked by the time I threw it), I just got the Tour Solid a month ago,, and I would like to get another ball in that family. Although they sound really close in strength, they have a huge difference for my game. I really want something like the Hy-Road with a little more pinch on the back like my Frantic. I am also open to other suggestions. Thanks in advance.
P.S. My pro shop was able to give me full credit for that Critical Theory that cracked and this is my "replacement".

The hy road solid would not be like the original with "more punch on the back." The solid will be earlier, and have a slower response to friction.

The fusion may be the best option. It won't be a ton more floppy, but definitely stronger overal and slightly more backendy. That's what I've seen anyway. Great ball too.

i would go with the fusion or hyroad pearl leaning towards the hyroad pearl. if it is for house shots just pick your favorite looking one.

I agree with cheech.. The hy road pearl would be the best option for the house shot. I have the frantic & the hy road pearl and the reaction off of the spot is about same except the hy pearl may be a touch longer in length but definitely snaps off of the spot. As for the fusion, I think that bowlers who are speed dominant will have the most success with it  because it reads the  lane the earliest out of the three balls that you mentioned due to its low rg.  I hope this helps.

I do have a lot on the ball. However, when there is oil in the middle on any pattern, the lanes play more like I am speed dominant (19.5 mph when swinging a little as shown by the screen) Based on the look I want, I am thinking the Fusion will roll more like a stronger Frantic. I don't want a boomerang motion. I want a hard arc with an earlier read than my Hy-Road. This would give me what I expected from the Asylum. That ball eneded up a ball I can only use on longer patterns and Heavier oil patterns. I can't really get away from the pocket with mine. Therefore, the Fusion should allow me to get the ball out and trust the recovery. I will post an update after I get my IQ Tour Fusion. Thanks everyone once again!

Low RG and lower diff in the Fusion will give you a look that distinguishes itself from the Frantic and Hyroads.  On House shots the Hyroad will be great.  On flatter patterns the Fusion will give a lot more predictable reaction without losing your carry.

Change of heart! I decided to do more research on Hy-Road Pearl. It will over more than the !Q Tour Fusion for my game right now. I really love the way the Hy-Road rolls. And the sound of a longer and stronger Hy-Road would give me a wide variety of options. I also like to make another ball seem great. There is more hype over the Fusion, Hy-Road, and the Tour Solid. I want people to wish they had a Hy-Road Pearl. Stand-by for an update.

IQs are better on flatter patterns because they allow you to get a lot of hit with more direct angles and less boom off the breakpoint.  The others are great on house shots because they have a stronger change of direction and give guys the opportunity to really open up a house shot.

I'll leave the IQ Tour solid and Asylum for flat oil patterns.

not to hijack but i did not match up with the disturbed cores....everyone i see those balls are too clean and flippy for benchmarks. my disturbed was unusually clean and strong when everyone elses seemed to do what you would expect it to do. then the asylums ive seen are overly flippy for a hybrid and the deranges need a really defined ffriction spot to make a move. this makes me think the core/covers just push too far for my game which is unfortunate because i love that disturbed i recommend it to everyone as a benchmark despite my bad experience.

Honestly, I forgot one can have problems with particular cores. My Asylum rolls fine without my thumb. But with it, it is unpredictable. I'm hoping by changing the surface, I can get a better reaction.
