Hey, Storm - how about a Firestorm remake?
« on: October 15, 2003, 10:34:37 PM »
I personally think that one of the greatest Storm balls ever was the Firestorm. The original.

Some of the ball companies have been successful with a remake of an older ball. How about it???

I just found an old Firestorm, and have moved it into the main bag - it's STILL an awesome ball, even with that "old" technology. I've never found anything close.

To some extent that is what the Fire Power sort of was.  Storm doesn't seem to like to re-introduce the exact ball they used to make...actually no ball maker really does, with the exception of AMF.  Look at the remakes of the Thunder, Meteor and Lightning...the whole Flash line.  I agree that it would be awesome if they remade of few of their older balls!  Even in the case of the FireStorm if they remade it exactly I probably wouldn't like it.  The first couple of batches were the best for this ball.  After that they tweaked the coverstock a bit and it changed the ball...in my opinion.

Two of the better bowlers in my local house still throw Firestorms with good results.  I've never owned one, but it looks like a nice ball in their hands.

I tried the fire power. Nothing like the original fire storm...
Except it was round, had three holes, and was made by storm.

They're too busy making duplicates of balls in their current lines.  Lol, the Deuce and Reloaded, the difference?  They smell different.  The point?  Nobody knows, but I can't wait to smell the Fear Factor!

Mumzie,

Do some research on the Jekyl. I have a feeling that ball may be very close to the original Firestorm; not a replacemnt for the current conditions.

As for the firestorm...it was a great ball.  Storm has not even been close to making a ball like the firestorm. The deuce and reload are very similar in total hook. For me the reload pushed a little bit easier through the front than the deuce. As for which ball is better, I prefer the deuce. The reload is a disappointment to me. I just punched my fear factor today and will throw it tomorrow. As for the smell of the fear factor...mine doesn't smell like plums or anything familiar to me.  Maybe when I start throwing the ball there will be a smell of plums.

I know it's a different coverstock on them, but the RG, differential, and everything down to the finish is exactly the same.  Was just making a point that it seems a little odd to make two consecutive balls so similar.

Well i wouldnt mind seeing them make a new ThunderStorm line, i had until a week ago a Black ThunderStorm, and today bought a BlueThunder and love the ball.  Expecially when you shoot 731 with only one game of practice on the ball lol.

By the way did you know there were 2 firestorms.  The first firestorm was a dark red color. That ball wasn't good at all.  They remade the ball and I believed changed the cover and block and called it fire storm tour edition which is the model most people are familiar with.

The lightening flash was an excellent control ball especially with the inverted lightbulb core and weaker coverstock. This ball is perfect for shorter patterens and medium-light sport shots.  I'm going to PM Steve K to see if they will come out with any close to this.

A couple of years ago I queried Storm about that directly. They said both balls were identical except for the color. I have never thrown either - too flippy, but that is what they said.
