Is the Razor Wire more ball than the Hot Wire?
« on: April 05, 2004, 09:53:25 PM »
Hot Wire has the Duece Cover with the Hot Rod core which is rather mellow.  Like the Eraser's without the dense ball in the middle.  Razor wire has the Thunderstorm core with offset disc in it with the weaker but dull Pro-Glide cover.  What are the main differences?  I'm thinking more flare out of the Razor Wire but since the Hot Wire is more dull maybe that one will read earlier.  Any user thoughts?

I don't have the answer but I do no the diff on both of the Hot series is .33 (just above the too hot and Ultra Hot) or as I call the Hot Rod = Too Hot + and Hot Wire = Ultra Hot+, and the Razor Wire looks like you said like the Eraser with the powerball and the higher diff.

I know Brian N is a big fan of the Hot Wire and claims it is almost the Deuce.

From all of the strom sheets I keep seeing these balls listed as straighter in the heads.

I know Brian Himmler used the Ultra Hot + = Hot Wire POLISHED to win on Pattern E on tour.  Didn't Patrick Healey use the Hot Rod to win on like a pattern C also??

My impression is like you, with similar surfaces both of the Hots to be played straighter in the heads if compared with a Razor Wire.  Also to be less successful at inside angles.

I am actively involved in getting some HOTs as the patterns I'm on are really flyin!!!

I agree with Jabroni. This is a classic "over-under" pattern type of ball. Not a very good ball for fresh league patterns or even the third game of league. Good ball for late game 2nd shift leagues and my favorite, Sunday morning open play practice.
