Looking for a new Storm ball but which one??
« on: May 19, 2011, 06:04:53 AM »
I am thinking of getting a new ball and have been looking at a Storm balls. Reading the reviews on here it seems as one of the better proven balls is the Virtual Gravity even tho its not so new. As Brunswick balls all seem to be very similar and you dont seem to get a good one out of a range i have been told that if your lucky to get a really good Storm ball it it will be much better, would this be the way to go. Thanks for any replies.

I used to throw Brunswick and Columbia 300.  A few months ago when I came back to bowling after a layoff, I switched the entire arsenal to Storm and Roto Grip.  Absolutely it was the best switch I could have made.

I have the Virtual Gravity Nano (uses the same core as the original Virtual Gravity but a different solid cover) and it is absolutely money to me with heavy oil.  This ball is the best I have ever used with the flood, and it suits a ton of styles as well.  If you crank it, it will give you a ton of midlane/backend.  If you are a tweener or stroker, it also works extremely well.  Great core, great cover, and it stores energy to really carry well.

If I need a little more length or when it's more medium-heavy, the Anarchy does a good job filling that gap.  On the lower end, my Roto Grip Nomad Dagger and Rising Star hybrids do an awesome job with medium/dry conditions and you get a ton of performance for not a lot of cost.  My opinion is that Storm/RG have the most complete lineup available at this time and I love throwing their products.  I did review all 4 balls I have with them, so feel free to take a look.

Now with Brunswick, they pulled all of their high/pro/CFT performance balls except the Alpha Max, Wicked Siege, Revolver and Loaded Revolver last week.  Because of this, it might be tougher to put together an arsenal with their products simply because there are less choices, less covers, and less cores to work with.  I didn't care for the covers or cores on either of these lines, and never seemed to match up that well.  It's not to say those brands are bad- just that everyone matches up differently from company to company.

My arsenal

Heavy Oil: Storm Virtual Gravity Nano: 4000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Storm Anarchy: 1500 polished
Medium Oil: Roto Grip Nomad Dagger: 1500 polished

Medium-Light Oil: Roto Grip Rising Star: 1500 polished
