Most comparable to the Super Power?
« on: January 19, 2004, 11:06:04 PM »
My brother is looking to replace the Super Power I gave him...now on it's 4th drill going strong.....he just loves it, but would like a new one. I'm trying to track one down, but in case we fail,.....

What is current that's the closest ?

Super Power 2.55/.055 Pro-Thane LT ( I assume is a lighter load, but softer particles.....)

thanks !

Jeff,

The SP really has not been replaced, in my opinion, but you might look at the Eraser Particle Pearl.  I realize that the SP was not a pearl, and the core is different, but it does have the Pro-Thane LT coverstock.

I guess it's hard to say which Storm ball we'd like in place of the SP, unless we can determine which part of the ball gave it the reaction we all loved.  Was it the core, or the coverstock?

If it's the combination of the two, we're screwed!

I'm inclined to, huh-oh, agree with seadrive.

No really. The EPP's a pretty good imitation of the SP. Check the difference in core specs (I don't recall exactly) but aren't they somewhat close?? If th eEPP goes to long, a slightly scuffing would help that.

For me the Storm ball closest to the Super Power (I have had 5 different ones, shot 300 with 4 of 'em, love that ball) would be the Core Power LRG.  LRG revs up faster, but also takes a shine better.

If it doesn't have to be a Storm ball, look into the Dynothane Vendetta Particle, that shell is very close, shines the same.  Roto Grip's Silver Streak Particle has a similar shell also, a little stronger weight block though.

Hope this helps ya....

Holy crap, charlest agrees with a mere mortal like me.  Will wonders ever cease?

I have both the SP and the LRG, and other than being particle balls, I don't think they have much in common.  The LRG uses the CADMIUM coverstock, not Pro-Thane, and the RG is way lower.

The LRG is real "hook at your feet" stuff, not at all like the SP, which I always found had "easy length", even without polishing it.  I have to keep a good amount of polish on the LRG to get it anywhere near the proper breakpoint.

That's just great, Jeff.  All this talk of what's most like the SP has me wanting to run out and get an EPP. Of course, if I do that, my wife will kill me, and it will all be your fault!

think on the bright side....at least she won't castrate you , and then keep you around for awhile!?  That's what's going to happen to me if MrsRevs finds another ball I haven't told her about !!!!
