Hello Out There...

I just moved to Las Vegas about a month ago and to my disappointment, my current equipment a Roto Grip Horizon Solid and a Saturn have not been performing like they used to back in New York. I know the simple answer is to adjust, and I try. When I move in, I wind up in the channel, and if I try moving further out, I leave a washout half the time. So at the advice of an old bowling buddy, I started searching online because I haven't had a chance to get out to a pro shop. So now I've come across the Secret Agent and the Shift. I'm considering the Secret Agent for heavier oil conditions, but I'm not sure if it's right for me. I'm a stroker who likes to play around second arrow, with medium ball speed and revs and am wondering if we may be a match. But I'm also looking for a new ball to start opening up the lanes and one that is versatile on several different and I heard wonders about the Shift. So I was wondering if somebody out there could give me some feedback. Thank You Very Much!

VegasStriker,

I switch back and forth between a tweener shot and a stroker shot (straight up the boards) depending on the condition and I have to tell you the BEST ball I have ever used for the stroker / house shot is the Shift. If you can find a good straight up the boards line with a Shift the carry is fantastic and there is a reasonable amoung of forgivability left and right. The only drawback is that you need at least a medium oil volume to use the Shift that way.

Go see K & K Bowling services either on Jones and flamingo and ask for Phil or Ken or if you are closer go see Jeff or Sakae at Pecos and Wigwam next to the 24 hour fitness.

Tell them Barry sent you in and either location will treat you great, I have the secret agent and the shift but in most houses here in vegas the secret agent is a better safe bet. Clears the heads and still has nice backend's left in it, i bowl out of Sunset Lanes and south point if you ever in the area.

Good Luck and go see these guy's for way better service and knowledge than the casino pro shop's that will gouge you and push on you there best profit in stock items.

For me, the closest one is on Flamingo. I've past there before when I've been on vacation here a few years ago. Have heard wonders about them and will check them out. I haven't made my way down to South Point or Sunset yet, usually bowl out of Red Rock or the Sun Coast which are the two closest to me.

If your going to buy a new ball the shift is not for you. Unless you use it for heavy oil conditions. I suggest either s T-road pearl(NOT THE SOLID) for meduim conditions. For a light oil conditon go with the T-road solid as it has less hook the the pearl. Thats with storm bowling balls.

If you want a morich then go with a Awesome revs for medium conditon, The asweome finish might be to strong so that might be a heavy oil ball. The awsome flip is a nice light oil ball(NOT FOR DRY DRY LANES UNLESS YOU CAN GET SPEED ON THE BALL)

The Horizon solid is a good ball and if is not reacting, maybe you need it rejuvanated and resurfaced and then if that does not work, then consider a new ball.

Hey MorichKid I was just wondering where you are getting you information from because you couldnt be more off the solid hooks more and differently I know because I have both with the same layout and the solid is about 4 boards stronger so get you facts straight before you give someone who is really needing good solid advice the wrong facts and by the way the shift would probably be your best choice given you low rev rate or even a secret or special agent

I really don't think the Shift is for heavy oil conditions. At least, not with its box surface? And the T-Road Pearl is DEFINETLY not stronger than the Solid.. I guess it's your own opinion? The Pearl might flip harder, but the Solid definetly covers more area on the lane. Hope this helps!

Storm, relax. If you look at the web-site it shows that the solid is no stronger then the pearl. That is probably where he is getting hsi facts. So go jump on Storm for misleading the people who check out their site. I also looked at the sloid and came to the same conclusion as MORICHKID. Instead of jumping on him for what he said, tell him the difference between the two balls.

Bowl119, from looking at Storm's site I would have to disagree with your assessment that the t-road solid/pearl have the same hook. They show the same lines but the oil is five feet longer for the t-road solid. To me, this would indicate that it is stronger then the t-road pearl because the pearl needs five more feet to get to the pocket. Other indicators would be the OOB finish. BTM hook ratings are lower for the T-road pearl than for the T-road solid.
