Original Eraser
« on: November 18, 2010, 05:48:16 AM »
Anyone remember the spec's for the original Eraser. Ball was sold longer than any piece in Storms catalog yet even their website only shows the PBT. Still have one in the bag but would like to do some comparisons to modern products for future replacement.

I don''t believe the one shown on Storms web is the original. The first was an Eraser PBT, but was dark blue and orange, and was not particle. It also was prior to scents being added and seems like was introduced around 1998. That is what got me to questioning what the first versions spec''s were. I remember it being around the RG shown, but the cover does not seem right. I used and still use the one I have for fried lanes. In fact just tossed a 268 on left overs from last nights league covering 4th arrow to as far right as I wanted to go. Ball clears the heads and mids far too well for a particle and always has. I actually have one of the balls in the picture in a box and it was the same core or inverted from the first but with the particle.

Still have one used it for a spare ball but it was still very aggressive.

I still use mine a lot, my 2nd favorite ball ever behind the Hy-Road.
Pretty much the same "Thunder" weightblock in both.  Awesome Accu-Tread coverstock.

Original Eraser was a citrus scent. It came out around the same time as the Power Bolt and it's sour apple scent :-)

If you're looking at the link that Darth posted, then you are wrong.  I had an Eraser when it first came out, and what is in that link is the original.

The eraser pearl particle was the first eraser to incorporate a scent I believe. It was like lemon or something like that. It had a different cover than the original eraser pearl and solid. There is a really nice eraser-it on ebay right now single drill 15 lbs. Someone better snatch that bad boy up quick!

My Eraser does not have a scent, it was made before they added those.  But they did make a few toward the end of it's run that did have a scent and I want to say it was citrus. A friend of mine still throws his Erase-It, was the solid version of the Original, another great ball.

One thing you guys need to remember is that lane oils have changed with ball technology and some of the covers on old stuff will really struggle on current oils.  (This comes from a guy who has kept balls for several years -- think my oldest right now is a PARADIGM and BARBED WIRE.)

I do remember my Eraser having the citrus scent. One of the best Storm balls ever made for my game.
