I have a problem and need to know if its serious. My pin is right under my ring finger maybe a millimeter away and i noticed today i tiny crack from the finger hole to the pin. Is this bad and does it affect the ball and what can happen?

At this point, it isnt bad. But watch the crack closly, the paradigm coverstocks are very feagile, and crack easily. Many balls crack when there is a small gap between the finger and pin, like yours did, but unless the crack spreads, theres nothing to worry about.

This is very possible, if the crack is comming from the center of the ball (the core). Again i stress that it is like a surface knick at this time. If after bowling again you see the crack get bigger, or if it cracks around the ball, then the ball, under waranty should be replaced. And even if it wasnt im sure Storm would send you a new one because they are well aware of the problems with drilling these balls.

Your ball driller should not have drilled the finger holes that close to the pin. In any ball that can be a place that could crack with that little coverstock between your finger hole and the pin its just asking for something to happen. The pin is made from a different material than the coverstock so also in heat and cold the materials expand and contract at different rates and that could cause it to crack as well if left in the car overnight.

I've had two Paradigm crack on me so far.  Does anyone know if they've corrected the problem?  First one cracked before I even bowled with it, second one cracked after the first 3 games.

OUCH!

do all major ball manufacturers have these problems?

so far I've heard about:

Storm Paradigms cracking

Columbia EPX T-1's Cracking, breaking, not working right for more than 3 games, and pretty much just sucking overall

Ebonite's the ONE is getting a rep for dying out VERY quickly as well...

Sounds like manufacturers need to start taking more time to do research and testing to make sure they aren't flooding the market with lemons...It's great that Storm will replace the cracked ball, but that still costs both them and the consumer extra time and money.

As far as the EPX and the ONE...

Unless I'm getting a brand new ball free every week does it really make sense to throw these balls?

Works right for 50 games (does not sound like a low average for the two, generous if anything) = $5 a game @ $250 for ball and drilling...

sounds like sombodies getting fleeced

Kyle: Chef, we need Butters to gain about 50 pounds, fast.
Chef: Well, if you want him to get really fat as fast as possible, one of you will have to marry him.
Stan: Marry him?
Chef: It definitely worked for every woman I've ever met.
