Paradigm reving up BS marketing ploy?

I'm not bashing storm, I'm just confused about this particular claim.  It occured to me tonight that they claim the paradigm revs up to it's ideal in an incredible 5 seconds.  Well, except for the really old, or really young, nobody in my leagues take more than 3-4 seconds to hit the pins.  Maybe I'm just tired or drunk to much tonight, but could someone explain how that reving up is beneficial when the ball is in the pit?    Maybe the haunting of that 10-pin is messing up my mind tonight (7 in one game?) but I'm missing the point behind that claim, unless they just mean to say it revs up really fast.

The 5 second time is the time it takes the ball to reach its prefered spin axis on a mass bias determinator.  The quicker the spin time, the stronger the mass bias of the ball.  Mo's Total Shock and Awe is the quickest i have heard of at aroun 5.2 seconds.  Paradigm should be around that number, with The One probably the closest to 5 seconds.

ahh, thanks, I get now.  While I have an understanding about most aspects, the ball specs (RG, diff, Mass bias) have just never sunk in.  You by chance would know of a good reference source to better understand them would you?

Let me give you my spin on the paradigm. First, it retails $79 more in the pro shop I go to. I drill one identical to a xxx factor that I drilled at the same time. I used both balls on 2 different shots. I only see maybe 4 boards more hook from the paradigm versus the xxx factor. Does this make the paradigm worth $79 more. NOPE. I have no problem paying more money for equipment but...it better be a lot more stronger ball than what it is.

There are 2 thing that go together: technology and marketing.

Strong asymmetrical cores seem to be all the rage right now for almost any manufacturer, so Storm HAD to launch the new ball and a whole line. Other technologies like the epoxy coverstock are proprietary and do not seem to "work wonders" as expected.

Well, a strong core with a high mass bias is good for a quick and pronounced ball reaction IF DRILLED PROPERLY. The determinator spin time will give you a hint of how quickly a ball will reorientate under clinical conditions in a lab or pro shop - at best. For lane perfomance this just means that the ball will have a more pronounced change in direction when it breaks. It will not necesarily cover more boards, it is just physics that can better work on the core and the ball dynamics.

To hype this rather normal reactive ball, marketing comes into play.  ahigh price tag is always welcome, as well as fancy coverstock names including at least on "X" to make it look sharp. I think it is an echo from the EPX-T1 which opened up a new price level for bowling balls. Here in Germany, these cost about EUR 250,- undrilled... that's more than $300,-! Sure, Storm wants to pick a share of this new high price level cake, and consequently we have the Paradigm right now, an IMHO expensive asymmetrical pearl reactive ball with no real breathtaking innovation to it.

In regards to dizzyfugu post, ebonite finally come out with a new coverstock and block (the one) and they did not up their price on this ball. Columbia comes up with the p.o.s. epx that has completely blew up on them. As I said before there is room in the bowling industry for high dollar balls, but it has to be better block and coverstock. Not just a modified block and coverstock.
