Paradigm vs. The One
« on: December 19, 2005, 12:17:43 PM »
I have a paradigm that is drilled pin below ring mb swung out... I told my dad to order me a ball for christmas and he ordered me The One. Well anyway, it has a 2 inch pin not sure about t.w. but how would they compare if i put the pin above the  ring or above bridge?

Thanks

I own both of these balls. My Paradigm is drilled pin slightly above and right of ring, cg under ring. The One is drilled pin under ring, cg slightly right, MB in strong position. I left both in box finish. For me, the two make a a very nice combo, if you don't mind carrying a lot of equipment. The Paradigm is a good benchmark pearl reactive. It reads the midlane well and makes a smooth but powerful arc through the backend. The One comes into play when I want to move deeper and swing the lane with sharper recovery. It also handles slightly less oil than the Paradigm.

As for your specific question about pin placement, I would study the drill sheet very carefully before making any decisions. It is very specific about what you should or should not do in terms of drilling. I'd hate to see you lay it out in a discouraged manner and end up with a ball that's a dud.

Personally, given the high gloss finish, I wouldn't recommend putting the pin above, as I think it will make the ball want to squirt too much. I may be wrong, but mine, with pin under, still gets plenty of push.

Anyhow, good luck with both balls. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. I know I do!

If it were up to me, I wouldn't choose any of these balls. They both are great balls..yes. But I prefer the Columbia Action. This ball really reads the midlane well and the breakpoint of this ball it really hits the pocket like a TRUCK!. Literally, I mean when i bowl with this ball, I can definetly hear the sound difference when i get a striek and when others do to. This ball FLAT OUT HOOKS!
