Pitch Blue Purpose?
« on: November 23, 2017, 11:20:49 PM »
Just wanted to discuss the Pitch Blue's purpose. I've seen telecast where the Pitch Black reads the fronts too much and labors downlane. Is it too mellow downlane to use after that reaction takes place aith a Pitch Black? The Hammer Purple Pearl seems to purposely hook more with a noticeable increase in backend compared to its solid counterpart.

Pearl urethane is similar to pearl reactive in how it changes the reaction except since it still urethane it doesn't really jack up the length that much and also boosts the backend a little but not as much as reactive pearl does either.  Tends to make urethane a little longer and a little weaker overall in general.  Perhaps if you are rev dominant its a good option but since I am heavily speed dominant the only pearl urethane ball I have (Cobra) is basically a glorified spare ball on modern oil on synthetics.

Wow...for a 2Handedrook..sure know a lot about balls over of over 20 years ago.

I have not seen a pitch blue used after the pitch black. But I've seen it used by a decent bowler on our local jumpy house shot.

He says jumpy, I say not really as it is the right side which they blend out in practice, but he sure makes it look good!  He says he doesn't know why anyone uses reactive in this house.

The pearl pushes nicely and in generalit has a smooth rounded swerve for him.  He plays a small swing say 13 to 9 most of the time.

I assume he was talking about the new Purple Hammer remake and not the old school Faball version.  The purple remake (unlike the original) is not stronger overall than the Black remake just has more backend IIRC.

Perhaps, but the backend forces me an arrow left and it picks up about just as early as my Boo Yah did with the same layout. You guys should see the video by David O'Sullovan to see what I mean on the Purple Hammer if you haven't seen it.

Pitch black is logical choice for PBA guys with 400 revs and 20 mph.  For us senior mortals the Pitch Blue is plenty strong enough for a urethane.
