hot rod handles more than power charge pearl oil wise

Hot rod is NOT a lighter oil ball....more of a medium with BACKEND..
PCP is a half step to a step down.

I don't see how you can say that the Power Charge is weaker than a Hot Rod.
The Hot Rod may have more backend but it is by no means as strong as the Charge. Just look at the specs the Charge has lower RG and more Differential with the same cover this equates to more oil handling capability. The Charge is on the weak side of Med/Hvy and the Hot Rod is on weak side of Med/Lt.
I would say that if you get more hook out of the Hot Rod then either you don't match up well to ultra low RG balls (Charge) or/and there wasn't enough oil for the Charge.

To answer the original question the Charge is about 3-4 boards stronger than the Hot Rod for my buddy and they are drilled the same

like I said not enough oil for the charge
Crankers don't generaly match up well with early rolling balls especialy on dry conditions because the more revs you get on the ball the earlier it wants to roll. So odds are it was burning up to early and not hooking. A Fear Factor would also not hook much on that condition too does that mean that it is weaker also. There are times when I switch from a stronger ball to a weaker one and the weaker actually hooks more cause the stronger ball was burning up all its energy.

The Hot Rod rolls earlier than the Power Charge.  For me, the Hot Rod handles oil much better than the Power Charge, Power Charge is flippier, more back end.  Can be too squirty on oil.  Hot Rod handles oil better, reads the lane sooner, not so jumpy on the back end.  Power Charge seems lopey through the front part of the lane, seems to save energy better, and hence more back end pop.

Don't put so much stock in all those RG numbers, differential and such.  99% of bowlers aren't good enough to tell the difference.  The 1% are bowling for a living.  Just because a company tells you a ball will do a certain thing and be used for a certain lane condition, doesn't mean it will.  Hot Rod is a perfect example.  Hot Rod was supposed to replace the Too Hot.  Too Hot was a great dry lane ball.  Hot Rod hooks much more than a Too Hot (see my Hot Rod review).  (Barbed Wire doesn't hook as much as Storm says it should either, but is a great dry lane ball)

For me the Hot Rod ss much more skid/flippy than the Charge.

This for some might be seen as more hook. The Hot Rod Covers boards quicker for me than the Charge. But I think overall hook the charge hooks more. The Charge does read much earlier but is a mellower Core, early revving with smoother move on backend. The hot rod is a Skid/Flip weight block with a fairly strong Pearl Cover.

I think both are excellent balls and have there place but to generically say the hot rod outhooks the Charge I dont think is a fair statement.

Having witnessed team mates throw both balls, I think the Hot Rod is an earlier rolling ball and can handle oil a little better than the Power Charge- but I think the Power Charge gets a better back end reaction (much smoother) than the Hot Rod. The conditions have to be just right for my friend to get his Hot Rod to work well- as if the heads are fried he has trouble getting the right skid/snap he wants on that ball.

My father bowls with a Power Charge and can usually keep it going for all 3 games- only making slight adjustments inside as the shot breaks down from the outside.
