reign of power
« on: March 16, 2013, 05:13:38 PM »
My friend subbed on my team today, and he wanted me to throw his reign of power. I was reluctant to throw it to be honest. I thought with a strong cover and a strong core, it would be too much ball. However, it was not. This ball was indeed strong, but controllable with a great amount of backend. It had as much backend as my frantic! Boy was I wrong about this ball rolling out. Especially considering the 1000 surface oob. It reminded me of the virtual gravity original. I will most definitely grab one of these to go along with a breeze. I wish I had waited on this ball instead of the hy-road even though this ball is really good.

It's interesting to read positive reviews about this ball, because everything I've seen, watched, and heard about the RoP has been mediocre at best. I was anticipating the release, but lackluster reviews in BTM and online have turned me off.
In the bag:

Roto Grip Wrecker
Storm IQ Tour Fusion
Track 400ASE
Faball Red Hammer

I don't know.Maybe it's because of my rev rate. He said it was supposed to be a hook and hold reaction. But I got a strong continuous motion. It wasn't as angular as a hybrid or pearl with the same core numbers. But better than all solids that I've seen. I think the people you have seen had a drilling that wouldn't match up as well as needed for their game. I could swing this ball out further than my hy-road. And my hy-road is a great example of energy retention.

I'm not surprised. The whole strong cover/strong surface combined with a High RG core is quite the juxtaposition of reactions and really confuses me why they would be put together in one ball.

The ball is really strong and heavy rolling. It replaces the !Q which was an down and in, early rolling piece. The !Q didnt sell well, so they used the cover and a proven core. Pretty much think reign of fire. Heavy oil ball that will give you some flip.

The reign of power is amazing and depending on your rev rate it can be a monster on heavy oil.  The 1000 oob surface really smooths it out, perhaps too smooth.  I liked mine best at 4000.

Vlan,

I think storm wanted to make a solid that had great Midland reaction for heavier volumes. And then adding a core that will push a little longer will store some energy for the backend. The IQ had an earlier rolling core that lacked on the back part of the lane. If they can make a polished pearl with a low rg, why not a dull solid with a high rg?
