Replacement for iQ Tour Fusion

What ball would be a good replacement for a iQ Tour Fusion?

I've only been throwing Brunswick/DV8 for the past couple of years, but I was a big Storm/Roto guy before that. My guess at the moment would be the IQ Tour 30. I know that it's a pearl, but if you knocked the surface down a bit, you could probably make it pick up a touch sooner and get it close to what the Fusion's hybrid cover would give you, especially since you're dealing with the same core. Any other Storm fans have a thought?

Take my advice with a grain of salt because I didn't match up well with the Fusion or the Pearl at all, but the IQ Tour solid is my go to ball (go figure on that one).  Gene's idea of adding surface to an IQ Tour 30 is one way to go or you can get an IQ Tour solid and take away surface.  Both ideas keep you with the same core and an R2S coverstock.

The expensive method is to find a NIB IQ Tour Fusion or an IQ Tour Rising (overseas version of the Fusion, i.e. C3 core and R2S hybrid).  If you don't mind used equipment you can always find used Fusions for sale.

Good luck

I hear that the Hy-Wire does basically the same thing even though there are some differences. My safe answer would drfinitely be one of the answers above though. Perhaps someone can comment further in the Hy-Wire vs. Fusion.

Although I never had both a Fusion and Hy-Wire brand new at the same time, my first thought when getting the Hy-Wire is that it reminded me of my Fusion, maybe a bit stronger overall than the Fusion but a very similar motion.

The Hy-wire is nothing like the Fusion. Hywire is way more sideways ball motion.

I have had all the IQ balls... the closest would be the iQ 30 at 4000 abralon.

You could put the iQ logo on a block of wood and I'd buy it.  They are the best balls I have ever used in the 40 years I have been bowling.  I hope they have another one coming soon .

A strong layout Rocket might be close.

I wouldn't do that because that ball was very hit or miss for people.

Thanks for all the replies. One of my buddies recommended a DV8 Vandal. After watching him roll it, it does look very similar. I think with a pin under drilling it should be very close.

What do you think?

I think the Rocket is way stronger than the Fusion, but I get it. With a strong layout, it might burn up a bit and mimic a Fusion's differential on the back.

I think the Fusion is a step down from the Vandal.  Same length, but the Vandal has a stronger reaction down lane.  Personally, I think a polished IQ Tour solid would be as close as you will get to the Fusion.

I really hope Storm continues the IQ Tour series. The solid is absolutely the best ball I've ever used.

I just drilled the tour 30 to replace my aging IQ tour.  I knocked some of the shine of with a 4000 pad.  Havent use it much but I had a decent look on a flat 34 foot pattern.  I might still go to 2000 but haven't decided yet.   It is relatively smooth for a pearl and nothing like the gold pearl.  Havent throwm the fusion but I would think you could mess with the shell to get the look you want

You guys were right! The Vandal is considerably stronger than my Fusion. When throwing my friends Vandal the thumb was tight so I was unable to really roll it. When I bought the Vandal and had it drilled to my specifications it is ALOT of ball. It's almost as strong as my Paradox.

I'm going to get a IQ Pearl and knock off the shine.

Thanks for the input!!!
