scents
« on: January 07, 2004, 06:05:50 AM »
This would fall under the does it matter category but here goes. I like storm stuff alot, but who comes up with the scents? my new flash point came today and my whole living room smells awful. i put it in the closet with the litter box.

it kinda smells like peppermint gum that was left in your trunk for 1 month in 100 degree heat.
other questionable scents.

the shock trauma smelled like ben gay.
the power charge smells nice actually, fruity.
The x-factor smells like chocolate something.....
one of the balls  smelled like licorace if memory servres me correct...

now for some new scents they should make..and label the balls like this
Aromaball technology

Flower smells are nice.
spices are nice too,, maybe nutmeg or pumkin?
and gotta have listerine blue mint scent

Yes the flashpoint smells HORRIBLE.
The licorice ball is the corepower HRG
If you want a ball that smells bad, the core power LRG after a fair amount of use smells like toxic chemicals.
The Reloaded smells nice.
So does the Fear Factor.
X-Factor smells horrible after use.
Eraser Particle Smells nice too.

I guess the real reason for the scents is that when some balls are being drilled, they stink.  The storm scent will overpower the original scent, making it more pleasant for the ball driller.

Also, once when I was in Vegas, a storm ball rep was in the pro shop at the Orleans.  This was when the scents first came out, and I asked him why scented bowling balls?  He replied comically by saying that when the owner of Storm gave his wife a tour of the ball manufacturing process she said that it stunk and tada a scented bowling ball.

I had the eraser blaze, which is supposed to smell like "black cherry". It was my first high performance ball and i knew next to nothing about bowling ball companies. Got the blaze and on the car ride home it smelled strong and just thought it was just the new finish and would wear off in a day. Found out in a couple of week from an advertisement that it was supposed to have a smell or "fragrance".
Anyway, it really smelled like cherries and was quite pleasant, but it was very strong and liked to take over rooms.

A certain Storm Rep told me they put the scents in for something having to do with the psychology of purchasing.  Some kind of subliminal stimulus to the brain??  They joked that they also do it because a certain other company can't, "their scent keeps coming out smelling like sour milk".  LOL.

The Fear Factor is horrible! The X-Factor is nice as is the Deuce and the Trauma Response. I have only experienced a few and most are a  nice change from Bondo. But the Fear Factor is not something I like, although the ball is pretty good!
