Secret Agent?
« on: July 15, 2009, 04:32:13 AM »
Anyone still use one? I have a chance to get a first drill one for $45 shipped. It would be drilled 4 1/2" pin to PAP. I am a stroker with around 265-275 RPM. 16 MPH ball speed with good axis rotation. At 4000 abralon, how should it react for my game?

I have the Secret Agent at 1000 grit, and it rolls very good from outside of second arrow.  It is by far the smoothest ball in my bag (and possibly the smoothest ball I have ever thrown).  I have it drilled pin over bridge (thats about 5'' from my PAP).  I found this ball to be very useful on shorter PBA/Sport patterns where I need to play outside and do not want a big change of direction downlane.  It just picks up in the midlane and makes a very smooth transition to the pocket.  The ball is also good for house shots which are very over/under, it enables me to stand further right and throw it into the dry without worrying about the ball overreacting.  Overall, the ball is somewhat condition specific, but when it hits the right condition (the ones I said above), you will have a look that probably no one else will have in their bag.  In comparison to my Spitfire at 2000 (drilled pin under bridge), I would say that the Secret hooks a little sooner and is a little smoother overall.

Drilled a couple of them: one pin up, the other pin under. Pin under was early and smooth. Pin up was a little bit longer and had more movement on the back than the pin down one.

The one thing that stood out was the ball was still very controllable and smooth. It was a low RG, low load solid particle. These tend to be very control oriented type of balls and great when you need to keep your target tight without a bunch of squirt out of the bowling ball. On league shots, I had to get more on top of the friction to get it to stand up on the back end enough to carry.
