Should i buy a Depth Charge?

Well my pro shop got very slighty used Depth Charge for sale, 16lbs in real good condition for $90 with the drilling. I have wanted one of these. My aresenal is pretty good except for a light oil ball but do you suggest this ball? is it worth it to try? I have seen lots of people throw them and a lot of people i know love them.. so what is your view of this ball? View my profile to see my current arsenal.

This is a great ball for the money.  Long and Strong reaction, and this ball can corner. The ball is extremely good, if you have a determinator to find the mass bias on this ball.

Nick...  While the DC is a great ball it is FAR from a light oil ball!!  I would hold off for something else to become available.

I know it isnt a ligt oil ball but i think it would be great for tournaments rolling around in the upcoming months. I know i can buy new ones but once you add in shipping and then get it drilled its so much more. I can get it $90 and have it re-drilled. The ball is in great condition, i think im going to pick it up next week but give me some more advice.. They also have a used sonic X which i think im going to buy for my dry lane ball, still thinking about it though, also looking at a Lane #1 Bullet for dry. But anyway.. People seem to like the Depth Charge, any other thoughts?

I love my DC, but I'm partial to particles, both solids and pearls (my other favorite balls are my Storm Core Power LRG and EPP).  I don't have much hand, and this ball, more so than any other I've tried, enables me to get a better angle of entry into the pocket to knock out the ten pin.  I've seen it used by bowlers with more hand, and it still has that nice even move into the pocket -- not too skid-flippy, even though it's a pearl.

Well as long as your not trying to fill a dry spot with the DC I would say to pick it up!  Our shop has drilled up a few for various people and everyone seems to like it thus far.  

The Sonic X might work for you on dry lanes...is it the solid of pearl?

im not even sure, just saw it real quick when i was getting my thumb fixed on Sunday night, If the DC is still there next week i think i will be picking it up. I will be getting the Sonic X before JBTs start up too, ill buy it new if there isnt one there. So DC is a good choice you would say?

I believe all the balls with these cores have a ROUNDED move!

That is neither good or bad.  Balls with these types of cores are going to move like such and it really depends on the condition.  For whatever reason particle pearls with the same core seem to be more rounded than reactives with the same core and even particle solids.

I'm a big fan of the Eraser Particle pearl, it is more angular.  But it really depends on your local conditions.  Often just seeing others with a similar style in your area and on your lanes doing well is enough to know ball will probably work.

You pick.  Need a continuous strong rounded motion great.  As is supercharge.
More angularity, X Factors or Erasers.

You make the call.

Dont love the dc but like the supercharge and power charge alot, the dc revs hard but always leaves something on solid hits. I would get power charge or eraser particle pearl before i wasted my money on another dc but hey some people love the ball too.

Nick,

Depth Charge is a great ball.  It goes long with a relatively smooth arc to the pocket.  As it has been said by others this is not a dry lane ball.  If you are looking for a ball with those characteristics I'd go for it.

For dry I'd go with a Sonic X Pearl or a Barbed Wire.  I'm also curious about the Big Hit Particle.  It sounds like it might be a reasonable dry lane choice.
