starting an arsenal

i am trying to help a friend who is droping from 16 to 15 as a test to see if he likes it and was wondering is an xfactor (original) and a power charge a good starting point.

Sould be a good starting point, but if he is only in the test phase then he should pick up a used 15lb medium oil ball to try it out first.  Before I made the drop a friend of mine gave me two used 15's to try out.  I actually still use one of them as an everyday ball I liked it so much.

If your friend can't find anything locally he could look on Ebay, the for sale section here or even usedbowlingballs.com for a good used one.  Just a thought, but why put the money into a new ball or two if he might not stick with them?

sorry i guess i didnt mention i already have these two balls used i bought off of br.com. and i would be giving them to him i just have never thrown either one and am not 100% sure if they over lap or not.

An X-Factor and a Power Charge Pearl have some overlap... To me they are both medium oil balls with different reactions.  The X-Factor will get down the lanes a little longer before making it's move.  When it does turn it should be more hook than the Power Charge (assuming similar drilling).  The Power Charge is an early roll ball with a smooth arc backend.
