Storm 2Fast and Storm Fringe = Same Ball?
« on: April 11, 2012, 03:39:42 PM »
They have the same core and the same coverstock (supposedly).  Are these bowling balls identical?

Obviously, you aren't a golfer.

For all we know, yes. You would need to talk to a company insider to see if they "tweaked" the cover formula. I have heard from a reliable source that this has happened, even to current line balls while still in production.

I'm a believer that color also will effect ball motion.  I had a red zone and strike zone with the same layout and service prep for comparison but as the above said they could have tweeked the formula also.  My red zone went at least a foot and half longer and was a little more angular than my strike zone.

Just like the Storm Tropical Heat Solid & Pearl balls are pretty much renamed Street Rods too. Right?

Yes, Steve.

See this thread for more details: Ballreviews thread of Fringe and Manic
It, in turns, references another previous thread ....

Straight from the Storm's mouth:

"The Fringe and Manic are the same as the 2 Fast and 2 Furious if we are talking about coverstock and weight block. When we came out with the Frantic, people wanted to see and all pearl and solid version that stood out more."

Wow, never heard of a company releasing basically the same ball because of color. I mean, I've seen re-releases before, but not like this.

Columbia did this with the Freeze.  Same ball, but many colors to choose from.
