storm ball similar to deranged
« on: December 06, 2014, 10:59:53 AM »
was just wondering which storm ball would be similar to the Deranged.  I have a better grasp of the storm lineup and am trying to see where it would fit into my arsenal

For me its in between the hyroad pearl and !Q tour pearl.  The Hyroad pearl of course will have way more back end...but that is where id pull the ball out.  After I put my higher end symmetrical pearl away...the deranged is top of the mid price pearls...for me.

The roto and storm line up stagger each other very well IMO

Was wondering if it'd be a nice step down from my marvel pearl

I would have to believe so, r2x is pretty strong...stronger than what's on the deranged!

The Deranged will be more angular than the Marvel Pearl. And for me, it wasn't as much that the Deranged was skid flip, but that the Marvel Pearl isn't. The Deranged will be a little cleaner and have slightly more down lane motion.

I had the Deranged and echo the cleaner thru the front comments. Mine pushed the front rather easily and usually made a pretty good move down lane. If I missed it at the bottom, it could dart by the break point or really labor off the spot for a flat ten but that should be all balls in a real world scenario.

My input is skewed, but I will give it anyway. I threw my Deranged at 500 plus polish, and my buddy threw his at 1000 plus polish. With those undergrits, the ball read the midlane very well and offered a smooth and very strong move down the lane. So, what I saw would make the Deranged similar to something like an Optimus more than the IQ Tour Pearl or Hyroad Pearl. I guess what this shows is that the Deranged can offer a very wide variety of reaction characteristics depending upon how you drill and prep it. Personally, I think that the Deranged was very overlooked, at least in my area. It was a very, very good ball.
