Storm Coverstocks - Strongest to Weakest
« on: February 06, 2006, 03:29:03 AM »
It is not completely clear to me the relative ranking of the Storm coverstocks.  I took a shot, but I'd be interested in any corrections.  They are listed in strongest to weakest order.

EOX
SFA
Monsoon
Reactor
Typhoon
ACCU-tread
Curlyon
PRO-Glide

In my opinion, the Reactor is stronger than the Monsoon, at least the solid version is.

I can't even think of the words Curleyon and weak together!

Pro Glide I can think of the word weak!

Nor Accutread.  Yeah, it's low on the list, but it's hardly weak.  There seems to be a substantial gap between PRO-Glide and anything else.  I don't know about Curleyon.

OK, so I've heard the opinion that Reactor is stronger than Monsoon... is that a consensus?

Storm's website says that Typhoon is stronger than ACCU-tread but weaker than Monsoon, so that is why I have them ordered that way.

I agree with LuckyLefty's comment on Curleyon, I had a Power Charge Pearl that revved up pretty early, but Storm calls it a mild reactive.  If you would move it up where would it rank?

Unless you can separate the cores out of the coverstocks, you guys "ain't gonna get nowhere". For instance: sand/polish a brand new Hot Rod Pro Stock, a brand new Hot Rod Super Sport and brand new Hot Wire to the same finish and then compare. (even though their coresa re not identical, they are very close number wise.)

besides the difference just are not that huge.

Monsoon Reactor Accu-Tread
Typhoon Curelyon

I find all different...but all strong except for proglide.

On pearl I thought Curlyon was the classic skid snap reactive.

Monsoon is more even and softer as is typhoon.

REactor solid is very strong stuff and too much for many fresh backends!
Accutread is....strong...but not always so predictable.

Monsoon solid...very strong...monsoon pearl....sort of skittish unless on a real strong core??!

Do some research on Storm's website... the ball descriptions contain some hints.
