Phaze
« on: April 06, 2016, 09:12:27 PM »
Have a Phaze and Eternal Cell.  Normally my EC hooks more than my Phaze but tonight EC wasn't finishing on the back end well.  Switched to my Phaze and it worked way better.  Hooked more and finished harder.  Both balls are drilled with the pin above the ring finger.  Any input would be appreciated.

I don't know what kind of input you are looking for but it sounds like those two balls complement each other well. the eternal cell was probably burning up and the weaker cover on the phaze let it be cleaner and backend a little more.

also as a side note, because the eternal cell is asymmetrical and the phaze is symmetrical the same layout will yield 2 different results. so the layout could also be contributing to the difference in reaction

The EC is supposed to hook more over all...
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

There's your answer above. Cheech gave it to you! In layman's terms, there was not enough oil for the EC to be effective, but there was enough oil for the weaker cover of the Phaze.

So I guess the phaze has a weaker cover than the cell.  Wow these new balls are hard to understand.

Yea, it's a conundrum.  ::)

What's hard to understand? Pretty much everyone since the Phase came out has said that it was weaker than expected

Star, be nice... Whiz, I know what you mean. I'm fighting the same issue right now with a Revolt Havoc compared to an Optimus Solid. In the mind, stronger ball should hook more. In fact, you'll find LOTS of people who complain that the stronger ball hooks out of the house when there's not enough oil, right? So, when it hooks less, it doesn't make sense. Now, as mentioned above, the balls are different, so same layout does not = same comparison, but it's also true that, for you and I and others, strong ball on too little oil doesn't hook more, it burns up and looks weak.
IN GENERAL, EC is stronger and has more potential to hook on heavier volume than Phaze, which is definitely weaker. But on the right shot, it retains energy when the EC burns it up too soon. That's the tough part, what to buy for the condition you'll predominantly run into.
That's where surface changes can come in... I've never really been as successful with surface changes as I would have hoped....

Thanks lefty.  Appreciate the feedback.  It was just weird for me cause I always use my ec on league night.  1st ball out of the bag. Our league shot never changes.

The thing I find hard to understand is that the phaze is known to have a lot of midlane with little continuation on the back.

Is the Eternal Cell older or have more games on it than the Phaze?  The covers on the Original HC Solid and Skid both absorb oil faster than most balls (and definitely faster than the Phaze in my experience) - thus losing hook quicker - I would think the EC would be similar in this regard.  It is possible that a de-oiling treatment will cure this...

Yes phaze in really new and ec is older.  Could be the problem.
