Storms newest Master line ball features the Centripetal HD core surrounded by the all new AI outer core and is wrapped in the TX-23 Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and my first thoughts when I threw the ball that it reminded me of the Zen Soul yet a stronger version of it. It’s a touch cleaner and the forward motion it makes off the end of the pattern is a little more defined than the Zen Soul. I can seem myself using this ball on a wide range of patterns because of the versatility of it. For being a strong symmetrical it could be the first ball out of my bag but it can also be the second or third ball out on those longer patterns or ones with more volume after the asymmetrical balls are starting to burn up.

Storm’s new Summit is the strongest Symmetrical Hybrid piece made to date.  This piece is good for Medium Oil Patterns.  PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400.  Speed: 16.5.  Fragrance: Snickerdoodle.  Drilled this piece with the Pin to the Right of the Ring and the CG kicked out 1” from the palm.  Out of Box ball motion was clean through the front with a smooth motion on the backend.  For me, I need a little more oil than the House pattern to throw this piece.  I compared this to the Storm IQ Tour, Fate, and DNA.  IQ Tour was 2-2 more.  Fate is 4-4 more.  DNA is 2-2 left but wasn’t as continuous as the Summit.

The Summit features the Centripetal HD core from the Son!Q and Super Son!Q but with an exciting twist, the new AI (Amplified Inertia) outer core which uses geometric cutouts to enhance the strength of the core.  This brings the RG down to 2.46 and raises the differential to .056, and is combined with the new TX-23 cover which is an evolution of TX-16 from the Phaze 2.  This combination represents the strongest symmetric bowling ball Storm has ever produced.  Despite this and despite my initial concerns, it’s not early and slow, it’s actually remarkably long and sharp for how much it hooks and how much it controls the lane.  What it reminds me most of is an ultra strong IQ Tour that finishes strong and can handle more angle.  The Summit is incredibly versatile, and while definitely strong, it’s in the same vein as the Zen, so I think it’s going to be an excellent ball for tournament players needing strength and stability but with enough shape to finish and hit, but also for league bowlers just looking for a simple user friendly and controllable ball.  I think the Summit might be the best marriage of the two that I’ve ever seen in a ball, it takes the Zen concept and overall performance and refines and improves it.

The Centripetal HD weight block found in the IQ Tour is paired with the A.I. (Amplified Inertia) outer core, which drives the RG down and differential up to create more midlane roll without losing a strong backend reaction. This is Storm’s strongest symmetric ball to date. The Summit provided me with an amazing look and great carry sliding on 33, looking 18 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. As the lanes broke down I was able to continue to move left and open my angles and it just kept coming. When compared to the Fate, I had to move five boards right with my feet and two with my target at the arrows. The Summit got into a roll much sooner and had a smoother backend reaction. I expect the Summit to excel on medium-higher volume patterns and see it fitting between the Phaze II and DNA. It also reminds me of the Axiom, but with more overall hook potential. The Summit is Storm’s strongest symmetric ball - a strong ball is a core that spins up early front to back, not necessarily a ball that hooks a lot right to left.  Historically, I haven’t gotten along well with balls that roll early - I’ve always preferred shiny pearls and hybrids, I wanted to give the new A.I. (Amplified Inertia) core a chance.  The A.I. core is supposed to carry off hits better - and who doesn’t want to carry more!  I can’t confirm that it makes a difference, but it definitely feels like it.  I drilled the Summit 5 x 4 x 2 1/2.  One thing I have noticed about the Summit is that it does lane shine pretty quickly - and that’s not a bad thing, it helps me get the ball a bit further down the lane, but still retains the smooth, controllable motion.  Check out the ball motion review I posted on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl7dlIRkhkQ.
