Success with the X-Factor
« on: December 15, 2005, 10:03:48 PM »
I've always loved my X-Factor, but now that everything's fixed and I can actually throw the ball how and where I want to, it's perfect.  Nice little down and in line straight up 8 at about 17.5 mph and 300 rpms.  Revs up great, solid in the pocket and carries very well.  I have an excel program that I use to keep track of my weekly bowling (compiles scores and breaks them down into averages, composites for all leagues, average for the week, etc.), and when everything clicked this year, I've been keeping track of my scores.  The last 6 weeks I've averaged 232.5 early on Tuesday nights, 199 late on Tuesday nights (haven't had a ball match up well at my late house, should be fixed now) and 236.7 early on Thursday nights.  Tuesday and Thursday early are both at the same house, obviously.  The X doesn't hook enough to use late on Tuesday at the synthetic house, I have a lot of over/under, and the carry is horrible.  Like I said, bad matchup.

I recorded my league high last night of 781 with games of 276-278-227.  Going for 290 the first game, caught track burn on the 11th shot.  Front 5 next game, absolutely terrible shot for 8/, then a big move (5 boards left on both lanes with my feet), off the sheet.  Last game I ran out of energy.  Been working a lot lately, and was already tired when I got there.  Had a chance for 8 through 7 frames, and in the 8th I threw what I thought was a great shot that just bit early.  One more strike that game was all I'd have needed.  Spares in the 2nd, 6th, and 8th did me in.  Right lane wasn't playing fair, lol.  Figured out I was walking too slow, and corrected it in the 8th, but like I said, it jumped on me.  Drilled a Depth Charge last night for the Tuesday late house, that should do the trick.  Thanks for reading.

I pulled out an old x-factor I got in trade a while back just today. Boy was I impressed with it. I used it on a solid medium shot with a little bit of carrydown. Man that thing moves more than my Ace does. I got this ball in trade from LL a while back and was unable to use it due to WAY too little oil, but at the house I bowl in now it is a monster. I took a while to get used to the ball (and the drilling I had tried something different) but after I did it was strike city. Very controllable and yet explosive. I can see why a lot of people have kept these.

While Storm is doing some special edition balls... give us an Accu-Tread pearl ball, just like the original Eraser, Trauma or the original X-Factor.
What else would anybody demand for medium conditions and exceptional carry?

I don't know why they wouldn't make a special edition ball with Accu-Tread pearl, it's one of my favorite coverstocks.  I like Monsoon solid, but A-T pearl is the STUFF.

Accu-tread pearl is my personal favorite, i have an original eraser still with extremely low games on it.

i would love to see some old school stuff. anything with pearl or even solid accu-tread like erase-it.

oh used the original xfactor this weekend, and bowled two leagues and 5 game tournament:

741 1205/5 and 697

averaged 240 plus for the weekend. can't complain.

I retired mine tonight.  Had a couple balls I thought might be able to fill the void, and wouldn't you know it, a stacked Depth Charge came the closest.  It's a little too shiny, I need to knock some of the polish off, but it rolls great, and I get plenty of length.  Rang a loadful of 10's in the second game, but 703 works.  I've been shooting 700's every week with the X, so I'd say I'll be ok shelving it.  Wanted it to go out on top, and 781 will be the final set with the ball, my highest league set to date, so it's going out in style.

I miss my old X-Factor...lots of great games / sets with that ball.  I would still be throwing it if I hadn't dropped down to 15's.

I thought Storm was going to make a new version of this ball??
