Surface adjustments for Ersaer PBT
« on: February 27, 2009, 03:38:22 PM »
Just picked up a good shape used eraser and I like my original so much I am gonna plug it and redrill it the same as the other one.(stacked w/ x hole just below PAP)  Has anyone ever experimented with surface changes on this ball?  I like the roll on my other one at factory finish(recently rejuv. and resurfaced same as oob) and would like this one to be a little more aggressive on heavier oil.  Got a VG for real heavy but wondered how this "oldie but goodie" would handle surface changes.  Looking to experiment I guess so all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Since the erazer has the accu-tread pearl coverstock, it should take surface changes quite well. You could try 2k and 4k abralon, maybe 1k with some polish on that, what drill were you thinking of putting on this one?

Was thinking stacked with weight hole down near thumb with some surface. What would I see for a reaction with med. revs Med. speed?

My friend just gave me a barely used Eraser PBT also.  It's my favorite ball of all-time.  I'm getting it plugged and re-drilled next week and excited to use it.  I'm a lefty and he's a righty, so what tiny, little track there was won't even affect my line.  I never did anything with my 1st Eraser but keep it polished at 1500.  But that was before Abralon pads.  For now, I'm going to keep it at the "out of the box" surface and go from there.  As great as this ball was, it never did too well on heavy oil.  Sounds you got a great ball for oil in the VG.
I think the Eraser will take surface changes, but only to a point.  I never done to well with any pearlized ball with a duller type surface.  If anything, try 4K first and see if you get a earlier break point.  Then, like the other post, you could try 2K or 1K with polish.  I think this will be the better option.
Good Luck and let me know what happens.

Hi- wow, this thread is too funny. I too love my Eraser, and just recently hit it with a 400 abralon pad. The ball still can do it, and its 7 or 8 years old.
The 4000 finish seems to allow it to scoot a bit further down the lane before it makes its move, and the move is more of a strong arc, rather than a snap, when it was new, and the pins get slapped around as well.
