Sync vs. Byte
« on: January 08, 2014, 08:30:02 AM »
Anybody thrown both of these?

Which one is stronger?

What condition did you play on with each?

What kind of downlane motion did you see with a stacked drilling? Any surprises?

dont own, but have watched the read on both.  Sync is def stronger. Too strong oob for our ths.   Byte is weaker than advertised, which is nice for the folks that have been rolling them at our house.  Gives them great length and backend.

What look are you trying to get?

Just trying to get some information before deciding between the two. I am a rev-dominant stroker wiith slow speed, so me watching a fluffer throw a Sync does not give me a good read on just how strong it is.

For instance, my teammate throws a 900 Global Link on dryish lanes, as his spare ball. However, when I throw it, it becomes a medium strong lite oil piece which I can swing! It definitely doesn't go straight!  ::)

You will need OIL for Sync....I have a guy on my team with no hand that it burns up in the track after a game and a half...its very very strong....ive thrown and it makes my distubes look weak in oil

Thanks for the info Vkowalski!!

I see you have your arsenal with layouts listed in your signature. If I am reading this right, does this mean your Asylum and Solaris Blackout are both drilled pin under fingers?

The Sync is still the oil piece in the line, so it should be earlier and smoother overall. From what I've seen/heard of the Byte, it needs some dry to make it pop. Now, that doesn't mean it's a dry lane ball or anything like that. It just means that it needs to find friction in order to make its move whereas the Sync digs in and almost creates its own friction.

Agree on the Byte being weaker than advertised but I would also add that it is a little more forgiving by not being jumpy off the dry.

+1 on the forgiving.  Id also say for him to look at the reign on.  That thing has to be the most underrated storm piece out right now.  Hits like a truck and takes to surface changes very well

Sounds like the Byte would be perfect for me. I absolutely hate the Reign line. I've had two.......sold one and gave the other away. I hate the reactions I got from those balls. I have too much hand for that line of pieces.

If you have too much hand for the reign balls then I think you will have bad results with the sync. that being said I agree that the byte will work great for you you will see a very smooth reaction up front and once u see the friction you will get a huge bacKend reaction. I have seen the bhyte in action and it is weaker than advertised.  Strangely my fringe has bigger skidd flip backend than the byte and my fringe was a 89$ symmetrical ball.. might want to see if you can still buy those
