What Storm (or Roto Grip) ball would best replace the T-ROAD Solid.

Well the T-Road had a very true roll to it. It was kinda early and just super smooth. I dont think there is a Storm ball out that is similar enough to that piece. I would say that the most similar ball in the Roto line would be the Original Cell. Now you may get people to say right the opposite and say that Roto doesnt have anything like that. But from my experience I would go with cell. If you can still find a Rapid Fire Solid at a great price then you can go with that one and just place some surface on it... Hope this helps, John

I have both the cell and t-road solid and they both are smooth.  The OOB on the trs is 1k while it's 2k on the cell.  I just took my trs to 2k and I will report the differences between the two.  They don't have the same layout as the cell is drilled is pin up while the trs is pin down.  It will be interesting to see how the trs responds to the friction.

What about the Nomad solid from Roto grip? Do you think with a pin down drilling and a light surface that it would be close?

as icewall said... Reign of Fire is what you want to look at as a replacement for T-Road Solidd

I third the Reign of Fire.

Remember last season Storm had two ball lines (thunder and fire) that they merged into one this season (just the thunder).  The new CAM core in the Reigns is basically dead in between the old Fire Line core and the Thunder core with the same cover.  The Reign of Fire has the same cover (R2S), the same finish (1000 abralon), and the same RG at 15 lbs. as the T-Road Solid.  Add in .002 additional differential and you have a ball designed to roll almost the same with just a tiny bit more backend pop.

I bowled four games on medium oil 39 feet THS and it appeared that the surface change made the TRS roll stronger than my Cell.  I wasn't releasing the ball as well as I would have like.  I will try again in the next couple of days and hopefully on a kegel sport shot for comparison's sake.  There is one house with 6 to 6 forty feet and I will try it on that pattern next week.

keep in mind that if your release is off symmetric cored balls will be more forgiving and is a main reason why some people see balls like a T-Road Solid being stronger that a Cell. Even though im with a bunch of people on the T-Road being a great strong solid

Thanks for the info. I based my initial opinion on the better thrown shots.  The look is similar to my Cell but appears a little stronger on the back end.  I will need more games on different patterns with different releases to come up with a firm opinion.
