T road solid or Special Agent
« on: June 30, 2007, 01:30:51 AM »
I am very interested in one of these balls.  I have a T road pearl and really like the way it performs.  I don't care about total hook, I want control.  So, let the opinions fly on which ball would be the best bang for the buck on med-heavy patterns.

thanks

Not sure about the Solid as I do not have one. But I do have the Special Agent and I am not really liking the ball, mostly due to how I have it drilled. Most of my equipment is drilled stacked, so this one I went with an early roll. Seems that if I put any sort of hand in the ball, it just slides out on me. But if I come straight up the spine and just let the ball roll, it rolls right into the pocket.

Probably be a perfect ball for someone without alot of hand. This is just my thought on it and what I see MY ball doing.

I have a Special Agent drilled for moderate length.  It's my first ball out of my bag no matter what condition I'm facing.  The pin carry is phenomenal whether the shot is medium-heavy oil or if the heads are getting dry.  It's worked out great for me in my PBA Experience league and on regular house oil patterns.  The ball reads midlane, but still finishes very strong.  And, most importantly, it IS a controllable ball.  It doesn't get terribly jumpy on over/under conditions.  I fought a lot of over/under on the Viper pattern for some reason, but if I picked up my ball speed, I was able to get rid of some of that problem.

It still looks as if the Special Agent offers more overall hook than the New T-Road Solid?

Yeah I think that's the core.  Don't they have the same coverstock?

Yes, both balls use the R2S solid coverstock.

Thanks for the input, for the money I don't think anyone could go wrong with the T solid, but when comparing the numbers on a 15 lbs ball, I think the special will be stronger.  Maybe I should get both and sell one on ebay for a 1/3 of the price when I figure out which one matches up better (just kidding).  I'll probably go with the solid because I like the pearl so well and the price is right.  Hopefully they will make a great combo.

Thanks again

So, almost everyone says go for the Special Agent and you say OK, thanks, I think I'll go for the T_Road Solid.

If your mind was already made up, why ask the question?

Special is a lot stronger at the breakpoint than the T-Road Solid, which makes a much smoother change of direction. Your choice depends on what you want. I think the T-Road Solid will be better for softer conditions (see my full review in separate topic).

If you like the T-Road Pearl that much I'd choose the T-Road Solid.
