Virtual Energy - 299
« on: June 04, 2009, 12:11:28 PM »
Got a chance to throw Storm's new release the Virtual Energy tonight.

See layouts here

http://www.videoballreviews.com/virtualenergy.html

I threw both VE's in practice, and decided to go with the 4.5 x 4.5 x 2 VE because i liked the way it was going through the pins

This ball comes off the dry with some authority.  It is everything i thought it would be and more.  Cleaner through the front than a virtual gravity...good midlane read, and it absolutely unleashes a ton of energy (pun intended) coming off the back of the pattern.  This ball fits right in between the Virtual Gravity and the Gravity Shift as far as reaction goes.

Comparing to a Hy-Road, its exactly what i wanted to see...same midlane read with a more agressive, more angular move in the back...this ball and the hy-road will make a hell of a 1-2 combo.

Shot 236 with a flagged 10 pin, 299 with a ring 10, it was there...and 185 with 3 opens, Should of switched and/or got deeper, but i got new ball syndrome

IN MY OPINION - this ball will match up just as well if not better than the Virtual gravity for all styles of bowlers.  It will give everyone an option when their Virtual Gravity starts to hook early or lose too much energy.

It will give casual and tournament bowlers alike the motion they love to see.  Length, midlane read, powerful continuous backend move.

i am very anxious to try some surface changes with this ball and see what it can do with more surface.  If this ball takes to surface changes as well as the Hy-Road, and proves to be just as versatile, it will be a MUST HAVE for all bowlers.

So if I am looking for a heavy oil ball, would it be better to go with the virtual gravity or the virtual energy?

Definitely the Gravity, the Energy with the pearl in the coverstock would be good when the heavy pattern breaks down, fresh though you definitely want to go with the solid (Gravity).

OOB the Virtual Energy would not be my first choice on a heavy oil pattern, it may get the job done with clean backends, but the polished surface is going to make this ball want to push too far...thats what the Virtual Gravity is designed for...now with surface changes could it?  I don't know yet, we will see after i get to test these more.

its hard to put into amount of boards because i only threw the hy-road 2 shots...but the shot last night was the same it was all summer, and the Virtual Energy made a noticeable stronger move downlane.  Because of that it allowed me to get deeper and circle the lane more, without losing any carry.  I had been using my second dimension to do this (get deeper than my hyroad) but the second dimension is definitely smoother and more even off the back of the pattern.

I figured the gravity would hook more than the energy, I have just heard so many stories of the virtual gravity dying out so quick, and I don't want that to happen.
