Virtual Energy question

I have a VE with a 40 X 3 3/4 X 45 drilling. If I dull it can it be used on heavier oil shots? I don't want to change the current surface and try it if it won't give me a ball that will be strong on heavier oil. Thanks for any help!

Dulling a pearl or hybrid will make it more usuable on slicker conditions.

A dull pearl is also one of the best ways to combat over/under house shots. I put 1000 on a Gravity Shift and got less over/under because there was enough surface to get the ball to pick up if I played in the oil and the dull surface burned early and kept the ball from jumping on the back if I leaked it into the friction to quick.

Keep in mind that the VE will move earlier with surface, but it is not going to pick up like a VG or Invasion or ROF on oil.

I too have a question about the VE. I have mine drilled with pin over ring finger and with a balance hole. The ball was unbelievable for the first 3 weeks I used it and now I can't get it to finish!! I moved my shot left (12 to 5) when I first purchased this ball. Like I said it was great 735, 715, 690. I am not even using it anymore in league because it just isn't working. I have actually gone back to my Columbia Action Packed. I too have thought about hitting it with 4000 or perhaps repositioning the layout. Any thoughts? Thanks

You can definitly dull the ball down.. I wouldnt go lower then 1000 abralon. And also Im not sure how you bowl but when you dull a ball remember your gaining hook in the early part of the lane and losing backend. So the backend the V.E has now will be a much smoother arc the lower you go with the surface adn you will have to go strighter.

06vrodridder : I wouldnt change the layout.. if you had that much success with it out of box the layout sounds great!! I dont know if your shop has this but have them put it in an oil extractor and bring the ball back to life.

couple different suggestions....  use a little polish (spinner and burn it in) or use spinner and bare hands to reshine what is there.  This should make the backend wake-up.   Not knowning if thats what you lost or not but i know mine doesn't seem to finish well without a little shine. (odd cause my VG is as dull as a peice of kingsford).

Thanks to everyone for the posts. I stopped into my driller's today and we decided to hit it with 2000. He bowls in the same house and he too has noticed a major change in the oil paterns. So we are going this route this week and we will see how Wednesday goes. And if this doesn't work I'm going to drill up another one because I know this ball is for me. I'm not giving up on it yet.
