Betcha Ebonite's lawyers are going to have a small chat with Storm's lawyers over that name!

It's not the same. Plus just one less name Ebonite can use for their next release.

Companies over lap at some point or another. This just happens to be some where far away from the states.

Still too many names left for Ebonite to use...

Mission Impossible I can already see it.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, nor could I care much less, but I'll bet Ebonite will have a discussion with them over it.

Don't know if it will matter or not though. The ball (Storm's) is an overseas only issue, and thus may be subject to the laws of the countries in which it is being released.

But, why would Storm even THINK about using that name now? Like somebody said, there are many names Ebonite can still use, so why didn't Storm use one of those instead? Couldn't Storm have chosen to use one of those many alternative names themselves?

adding to the patent/ copyright discussion... what about how both roto grip and ebonite have a ball called the "illusion", hammer and amf both have a "venom", balls where not released in the same respective years, just thought it should be brought up

Thanks willypbowler1.

I assume the R3S slots in between R2X and R3X? I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

Yeah, I noticed the identical specs between the two balls. I figure they're going to release the two balls to separate overseas markets? Don't see the need for different names though. Seems quite bizarre.

I should be able to get my hands on one of these down in Australia. We have a fair few Invasion 2010 and 3rd Dimensions around at the moment.

Patents don''t cover names

Trademarks and copyrights do.

If it''s not sold in the US, it''s not subject to US trademark or copyright laws.  It would take alot of legal work to copyright/trademark every release''s name.

It can only be enforced if the items are close enough to have shown a purpose intention to cause confusion, and once again a suit on these grounds is only possible if storm were to release this in the US. (This is why bowling balls can be named Reign of Fire, or Invasion, when there are already Movies, CDs, TV shows, etc with these names)
There are a few overseas releases with interestingly picked names.

Very few countries have strict enforcement through suit of these items as there are in the US.
