Introducing to Myself: An Older Ball from Storm!

I am currently using the controversial X-Factor XXXTreme as my only reactive ball.  I got this ball on clearance at my pro shop about a month ago because I wanted to try moving up in weight.  To give this ball a better chance in a variety of conditions, they suggested to polish it up and put a label drill on there for me.  I'll tell you one thing...  It is different from the others that I have thrown.  It seems to really want to cut in sharp at the end.

In order for me to get this ball to work, I had to actually start standing 27-30 and swinging it out further than I ever have before.  I know you high rev guys play in the left gutter and cross the entire lane and back but this is about as wild as it gets for me.  At first this was a bit hard for me to do because I never play that way...  Now this thing is shredding the pins.  I 'kind of' have a feel for swinging the ball out now.

I can always count on this ball to make a huge move at the end so it makes picking up spares in the middle of the lane a breeze.  Now of course I seem to have forgotten how to pick up corner pins with my Blue Dot.  Go figure.  Well, it's a work in progress.

Strawberry Wishes,
Fluff

Hey, I always thought it was a good ball, and I've got a friend that still throws it as his number 1.  Nice and smooth, lots of power, rolls awesome.

What is so controversial about the XTREME? I have noticed that this ball seems to clearance out price.. Is there a reason other than the age?

It was a hit or miss ball. Some loved it, some use it as a boat anchor with minimal success. Personally I think Lane 1 bomb's make better anchors but that is another topic.  I found the XXXtreme to be an ok ball with some surface adjustments, not great but ok.  It hits fantasticly and is consistant as long as you are. My issue was lack of recovery if the ball saw dry to early. Outside of that it was not a bad ball.  With some polish I bet it makes a great house shot ball.  I probably will end up selling mine now that I have changed my grip and need to either plug it or sell it, and that is a shame b/c it has all of about 25 games on it, but thats life I guess.

UPDATE: I am going to try it sanded on heavier oil this weekend and see how it does.  I imagine this is the condition that people were intending to use it for so I am going to try it out.  Here's hoping that it works out!

In practice on Saturday I threw so many strikes with this ball it was almost unreal.  A lot of that could be the 15lb difference in carry, but I was able to get it in the pocket over and over again and carry from different angles.
