Nice vids, love the music.

It's a shame this ball is a lot stronger than I was hoping

I'm 99% sure I'm going to end up with one of these, but I'm not sure whether to get the pearl or the hybrid. Being two-handed, I like that the pearl is slightly cleaner up front, but it breaks loose awfully hard in the back. The Hybrid picks up a hair sooner, but it looks to be smoother. Ugh, decisions, decisions!

Yeah, the Heats look alot stronger than what I was hoping for...I'm still trying to decide if going pin up with the "mb" in the track would make it much weaker.

That''s where I''m leaning as I think it would fit in just about where my Hyroad was at. If that be the case, I wouldn''t have to bother getting the Hyroad redrilled.

Xcessive,

Unless you''re a Storm-only kind of guy, I''d give a look at the Brunswick Slingshots. From what I''ve seen/heard, those offer a lot of push without the huge flare and ripping backend. BTM reviewers were really high on it.

Yeah, I've seen a couple of them in league recently.  However, unlike them I'm having the bad layout choice bug again...

Great Vids Britton. Just curious on why was there a comparison of the Tropical Heat/Reign and not the Tropical Heat/Fast. What do you think of the fast/tropical heat. How much difference is there?

MrPerfect

My ball speed is around 15 MPH, this is a downlane speed that has been measured on a few different scoring systems, never on CATS unfortunately.

Rev Rate has also never really been measured officially so anything i tell you would just be a guess...sorry!

Norcal

I havent thrown them against each other head to head, but on a house shot, for me i would be willing to bet the total hook would be nearly identical.  The difference would be the shape of the reaction.  Reactor has always been a very skid/flippy cover for me, where as R2S tends to provide more traction in the midlane.  TJ and myself really didnt expect these balls to be this strong, but we were pleasantly surprised.  These are an incredible value for the money.

bowler851,

I think you are thinking of the Street Rod Pearl.  Yes the specs are identical, but for me the Tropical Heats are stronger downlane than any of the street rod pearls i drilled.  I'm anxious to see how others see the relationship between the two when the ball is released.

I did mean the street rod pearl. How can they be different with same core and cover.

Even though you have the same cover on a ball and even the same final surface, you can alter the surface texture of that cover by changing the way you achieve that final surface.  So maybe the Ra values are slightly different on this cover than some other balls with the same cover.  This is just a complete guess and please do not quote me on that, but seeing how covers have advanced so far in the past few years by increasing and manipulating surface texture, applying these practices to older covers could produce interesting combinations.

On edit: I''m not trying to imply this is what is going on with the tropical heats, as I said before I''m anxiously awaiting what other people have to say about these balls and how they compare to the existing stuff...maybe I''m just crazy and it rolls exactly the same for some people
