Kinetic Energy
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ball NPS Score: Not Available
Cover Stock: : “UMP 2” - Reactive
Core: Shuttle
Finish: 2000 Abralon Polished
Color: Navy/Orange All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown.
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil
Description: Kinetic Energy is the second ball in the Upper Mid Price line for Track. Kinetic Energy features the same outstanding Shuttle core as in the original Kinetic, with identical core numbers. We have wrapped an all new UMP Gen 2 coverstock around her to complement the reaction to the original. Now the Energy does just that it uses up the bowlers energy sooner but will still give the Hugh backend we all expect from the Kinetic ball line.

Got this ball last week, drilled fairly weak, pin under the middle finger (right hander) with the MB kicked out just to the right of the thumb.

I bought this ball for a tournament, with a very poor version of the chameleon pattern that had a huge bump down lane about 45 feet, it worked flawlessly, hit like a truck, backend reaction was huge, was perfect and did anything you asked it to. The coverstock responded well to both surface changes I've tried.

I was shocked to find this ball wasn't nearly as strong as I thought it would be. It's clean through the heads, picked up well in the midlane, and made a huge move on the back.

My only issue with the ball, I put the bit into the ball for the thumb, a chunk about as big is a penny flew out and hit me in the cheek. Called Track, new one was sent out last Friday.

I posted this in the Track Fourm on Feb. 5th since the Kinetic Energy wasn't up for review yet.

Last week I was back at Ebonite in Hopkinsville, KY and had the opportunity to test-drive the Kinetic Energy with a group of the Track Staff Players.

We had four patterns to test the ball on. The centers House Pattern, 2004 Masters Pattern, Last Years Panama Invitational Pattern, and Ebonite's Heavy Oil Test Pattern.

I mapped the ball out pin up 5" from my PAP and the Mass Bias at 45°. The surface comes 2000 Abralon with Factory Finish Polish and this is the surface I used to test the ball.

As everyone knows, the original Kinetic is one of the strongest skid flip balls on the market right now. The Kinetic Energy is about 2 feet shorter in length and a good 3-5 boards stronger than the original Kinetic.

As I went through the different patterns with the ball it was quickly apparent how versatile this ball is going to be. All I had to do was changes angles, hand positions, or speed and I could easily get to the pocket consistently.

The Kinetic Energy is going to be a great compliment to the original Kinetic or even The Rising.

Track Bowling is a Core Driven Technology company that produces the best Skid/Flip ball reaction in the industry. We put the "Wow Factor" in ball reactions.

After visiting the factory and learning what is coming in the future is truly amazing. We have equipment coming down the line that will absolutely put Track on top as the Porsche of the high-end ball market.

What I was to expect/what I wanted: I expected the ball to read the midlane better than the Kinetic while using more energy, but still be stronger on the backend. What I wanted was the ball to read the midlane more than my Mean Machine, and backend just as hard(if not close) as my Rising.

The layout we went with: Pin beneath and slightly right of my ring finger, 3 7/8" from PAP, MB kicked out 50 degrees, with a small hole(maybe 1/4" in VAL for more flare/backend.

What I got: Exactly what I asked for and then some. On a lane after the 1st shift and still OOB at the time I had to play pretty deep and play a big angle to get the KE where it needed to be. Apparently, the KE is suitable for medium-heavy, but pending the rev rate, layout, and surface it may even be too much for a medium condition-but that's just from my point of view. I really wanted to compare it to another ball, so I decided to use my Kinetic(which is back to OOB) to show the extreme difference between the two.  I've posted a video in the forum.  Look for Kinetic Vs. Kinetic Energy.

I have since taken the KE down to 2000, and sits inbetween my Rising, and MM-where I wanted it to be! I'd like to toss it on a PBA condition first before I can assess any further.  However, I believe the KE is one of the best balls Track has come out with in quite a while, possibly since the Power Machine for me.

I must be the exception instead of the rule when it comes to this ball. I had mine drilled last weekend to go long and make a hard move on the backend. I must say that with the ball left the way that it came out of the box it goes too long and doesnt make the aggressive move on the back that I was expecting. When reading about this ball I saw that it was meant for a Medium-Heavy lane condition. The way that the ball is now I could not imagine trying this on a heavy oil condition. My question is for those that have this ball already. Do I need to change the ball surface on this ball or do I just need to get some more games on the ball first?? Only have 3 on it so far. I was looking for something that I could use when my Black Widow Bite started to grab too much on the back end. But I was hoping for a little more on the back.

I drilled up my Third Energy Monday and threw it for the first time in league on friday. I went 263 264 237 for 769. I put the pin outside the ring finger about 4 1/2 from pap and kicked out the mass bias from the thumb around 2 1/2 ball rolls just like it should. Starts up in the midlane and has very stong move to the pocket only reason I did'nt shoot 800 was because I left 6 9 pins throught the second and last game. Very strong and versital. Fits right in with the rest of the track line very well.

I'm averaging about 149 this year, but typically average around a mid-150 (153-155).  I just purchased a Kinetic Energy six weeks ago, but just finished getting it drilled about two weeks ago.  Had it drilled at about a 6x3, pin above and just left of the middle finger.  OOB finish, first full series I'd ever thrown with it.  I went 185, 231, 162 for a 578 series and a 192 average for the night.  The 231 game included 6 in a row from frames 3-8.  The only non-mark in the game was when I missed my target in the 10th going for a 3-10 split.  I throw over 15R, track it out to 9 or 10 and it comes back and just destroys the pin-deck.  This ball, along with the my Cell and Storm Agent, create a potent enough arsenal for me that I've retired my other two balls.  I couldn't be more pleased with this ball.  Great product.

Layout – Smooth control, 4x5 Pin in Ring Finger
Surface – 1500 sheen (Box at first)
Reaction
The reaction I get off this ball is clean in the heads, a lot of grab in the mid-lane, and a lot of good strong backend continuation. The reaction for me is close to what most guys with less hand get from a leverage layout. I love this reaction and it works great for me on THS. I get good solid consistent reaction, but it is easy for me to control. I tried it OOB when it was first drilled and then when it was released and I got it back. I didn’t like the 2000 with polish on it. It made it to over under, and that was something I knew was with the cover because I didn’t get that from this layout ever. I took it to 1500 sheen with clean and sheen, by hand. I love the reaction I get now. First set after the cover change was 796.
Rating 10
Readability
This is a great ball to read the lanes with, weather it be on synthetics or wood. This ball is a good all around ball. It easily shows what the pattern is doing because of how well transitions. If I have to get a read on a pattern this is the ball I go with. I love the way it transitions. It is good smooth but still pop on the back to help recover if you miss.
Rating 10
Versatility
Good here to, the only thing that keeps it from great is that it don’t take to the lighter side of conditions to well. It needs some oil, where the Kinetic had more skid. Other then dry, it can handle most other conditions. It just needs some cover adjustment and that is about it.
Rating 9
Hit
It hits great, same old track hit. Not much I can say.
Rating 10
Overall comments
I love this ball. Up until I got it, the Rising couldn’t be pulled out of my hand. Then after I got this thing, and I made the cover change it took right over. This was the best mid-season release last year. Hands down nothing better. So good, and because of how good it is, there is not much I can put into words. The worst this is that it doesn’t take to hand release changes well.

Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil
Kinetic Energy  is the perfect ball to complement the reaction of the Kinetic.
While Kinetic Energy uses the bowler's energy sooner, it still gives the  backend you want
Ebonite compliments Tracks name for predictability
but with totally different  Core Shape and Balls and  Reaction.
Previously in the past I was on Track ball staff ,
The consistency of the Kinetic Energy reminded me of the pass that’s in some respects
But A Lot more hitting Power.
. Although the ball reaction is considerably different,( little Earlier)
What I have found  and liked is that as soon as you let go
Kinetic Energy  let’s you know  where it going and what to do.
Due to it's easy recognize break point..
What best  about this ball is that it tells you very quickly when to put it away as it has a tendency to read the lane a little  early if the heads are dry or the tracked  dries out.

The Kinetic Energy  ball is versatile - On  house shots
As Well as  some PBA  Pattern
For Mid-to Heavier Oil pattern this is a good selection from your arsenal.

SPECS: 15lbs, 3oz tw, 3" pin
Rev dominant, 15-17mph, high tracker & axis rotation
Layout: 45 X 4 X 37 w/ a small WH in the thumb quad for increase flare

----O-OP-------
---------CG----
---------------
-----O--MB--X--

Expectation: Wanted to enhance the midlane read on this ball, (to compliment the length layout on the kinetic) but keep a strong continuation in the backend.

his is just a mini review after bowling about 4 games. Very smooth through the heads w/ a very strong midlane rev in the midlane and still retain alot of enrgy in the backend. So far have found this ball to be a good goto ball when the lanes seem a little difficult to read. Will take this up to a tournament in PA over the weekend and see how this ball fairs.

This post is after i have used it at a tournament over the weekend the correct drilling layout is 45 X 4 X 37 ( out of box) looking similiar to:
-----O-O-------
-------P-------
-------cg-------
------O---MB-x--
The lanes were long oil with out of bounds outside of five. This oil pattern forced me to play a more down and in shot( on 15 & up ten) and when this ball hit the carry was tremendous even on the lite shots. Reads the midlane very strongly and excellent continuation in the backend. Oil is definitely needed in the heads and carrydown is not a problem at all with this piece. would reccomend this ball for anyone looking to have a strong midlane reader. Will see soon how this cover takes to adjustments.

15 lb pin above finger holes mass bais right at the thumb on the right tip.no thumb hole.ball is money for me can play up the boards or swing it sweet.ball hooks unbelieveable.no control issues unless your speed or hands arent consitant.hooks way more than the kinetic but have bowled well with it also

PAP: 5 1/2"
Ball Speed: 15-16mph
Surface OOB and 1000 dull abralon

http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/qq98/marc_kingpin/024.jpg

The layout for this ball placed the MB near my track to give the ball motion a smoother reaction. But it still has quite abit of flip to it once it reaches a dry spot. I've first tried it with the OOB finish and it seemed abit erratic on THS when I play it from the 12 board to 5 at breakpoint. Got alot of over/under shots with it though the carry was decent.

Then I decided to bring the surface down to 1000 grit dull to give it a earlier and stonger midlane and that's exactly what I got from it. The KE was able to be more predictable for me with that adjustment and I was able to play as far as the 18-20 board to 7 and still get some good strikes as long as I kept my hand behind the ball. I also used on modified house shots and it was almost better on those conditions with fresh oil. You can also play it on longer patterns with a duller surface and firm ball speed.

I would say that the Kinetic Energy is a medium/heavy ball at best to start the night off with to open the lanes. Bowlers who likes to play the track area and needs alittle kick in the backend with a solid ball will like this one.
