Ball Drilled leverage (according to Del Warren of Track) 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 left of the pin(?)

Anyway.....got this ball at a Track Seminar because it has the same core as my Crunch Time that I love so much.  I needed a heavy oil ball and this one has fit my needs, sometimes too much.  I'm a tweener (with cranking tendencies at times) with medium revs and speed and this thing sometimes hooks too much.  I play second arrow and sometimes swint this thing out to the 2-3 board and it comes back and hits hard.  Good carry, pins seem to stay fairly low with good action.  Once I got used to the big hook it became controllable in a short time.  Remember I'm 41 years old and just started back into bowling in March after a 18 year layoff, and I never bowled in a league prior to that!

The Slash is alot of ball for the money and with the versatile core and the great coverstock it's a huge bargain IMNBH0.  It outhooks my Bully, and my Animal but further testing with the Animal is forthcoming as I've changed my release since the last time I through it but on similar tosses the Animal would never come back like the Slash.

Track has another winner and even in the short I'm I've been back in this I've become a huge Track fan.  Crunch Time, Animal, now the Slash are part of my arsenal and I love all 3 balls.

Del's approach and release tips I learned at the seminar have made a huge difference in my consistency as well.

Kudos to Del Warren and Track Bowling!

Ball: 4 x 4 layout, pin is 2 1/4 above the midline. Surface was left in factory condition.

Lane Conditions: various

Reaction: A few words come to mind about this ball, but the one that always comes out of my mouth first is SMOOTH! This ball reads the entire lane extremely well, but it does not jump when it encounters the dry boards.

HOOK: This ball is right along the lines that Havoc was for me. It is Smooth, but it can definately handle some oil. If you have read my review on the Xception, this ball is slightly stronger than the Xception I have drilled leverage. With a surface adjustment the Slash would easily handle the heavier house conditions that most would face. For those that had the Triton Elite, I see the Slash about 3-4 boards stronger than my Elite was.  9.0

Control: The Slash is all about control. The factory finish does not allow it to jump too much when it gets to the dry boards, but it also has it smooth enough that it will get down the lane well on a fresh shot. 8.5

HIT: As with just about every ball Track has made, this ball hits hard. Just like the Freakazoid it tends to keep the pins low and drives them backwards. 9.5

Readability: Because of how smooth it is in every part of the lane, it makes a good ball to read the lanes with. With the heavy roll that this ball has, it is just one of those balls you can watch down the lane and know what kind of pattern you are on. If it hooks up early you are certianly on a shorter pattern, and if it skids too far you know you are on a longer pattern. 8.5

OVERALL: This ball is a bargain in the midprice category. So much about this ball reminds me of the Havoc. Every now and then you come across that one ball that when you throw it you know it is a strike...the Slash is one of those balls. It is so consistant in every part of the lane.

8.5

...bet you'd thought I'd quit completely.  Wrong.

Ball specs
15 lb.
2.5" pin
3 oz. TX

Drill specs
4 X 5 (label, pin next to ring finger)

Threw this bad boy 2 ways, dull (600 wet/dry) and shiny (1500 wet/dry, 2X Black Magic)

I've really slowed down this year bowling wise, so I was actually excited about drilling up something new.  We've got a nice little local tournament that draws from all over the country, so I get a chance to meet up with a bunch of friends.  Anyway, to make a long story short, I didn't have any strong, solid resin to speak of, so I drilled up a Slash.

The tournament shot was 45' with OB outside of 5 and flat in.  I predominantly threw particle, but towards the middle of the set, I went to the Slash because of the drying heads.  I was really impressed with the midlane roll that the Slash picked up and shocked by the power at the pins.  In this environment, the Slash was a great control ball, but didn't see much action becuase of my early decision.  I didn't bowl particularly well (none of the other lefties did either), but liked what I saw out of my new ball.

I knew that I would never be able to throw the Slash on my normal house condition with this surface, so I hit the ball spinner and shined 'er up.  I was amazed at how responsive to surface changes.

The league shot I'm on this year is dry and kind of tough, really sensitive to side roll (i.e. side roll is bad).  I've been throwing a Bruiser, going right up the back with soft hands and firm speed.  I've had problems when I get carrydown since I can't get around the ball because it goes crazy down the lane.   On the fresh, the Slash was way too much.  By the middle of the 2nd game, the carrydown was starting to kick in and I switched to the Slash.  Not only did it pick up right where the Bruiser left off, it was muck more impressing doing it.  Even with the super shiny surface, the midlane read is just unbelievable.  I could take my hand out of it completely and the ball read the lane perfectly.  Later on (after league), I moved in a tried getting around it a little more to see what it would do.  The strong roll actually eliminated some of the over/under I've had when I try and twirl it up a bit.

Like the early Zones, you can watch the Slash pick up the lane and just start revving up.  In addition, you backend is strong and continuous and the hit....well, it hit's really good.

I'm really impressed by the Slash, especially at it's price point.  Very versatile cover and very responsive to hand position/release changes.  If you're looking for a stronger resin, you can't go wrong with the Slash.

Weight: 15 1/2lbs
Top: 3oz
Pin: 2.5
Drill: pin under ring followed with cg, wanted a drill that gave me the same flare potential of a stack drill with less length.
Lane Condition: Heavy oil on syntheds
Bowler: Right handed tweener, med high revs, speed is questionable

So I seen this ball thrown by Ameleto Monacelli, which I know I've spelled his name wrong so I am sorry for that, when the tour was in town. The pattern was short and he has a good number of revs so I wasn't too impressed, but what did impress me was that fact that this ball would ride the half board and still make the trip. This is what confirmed the fact that this would most definitely buy this ball a spot in my bag.

With this ball I have only about 10 games on it and let me say this ball is truly a sleeper ball. The ball just does what needs to be done, all you have to do is lay it down and give it some turn. I started off walking 27 and letting it go at 24, which at this house is flooded, the ball did jack just went straight. So next shot I kicked back on some of the speed and just watch the ball slide out to about 12, straighten up at about 10, then the show started. This ball flipped over and made a turn like a cop gotten a call for half off on donuts at Krispy Kreme. Hit the pins and made them fly. Not getting to excited I tried it again and just like that it repeated the shot for me. By this time I got a couple of the house guys watching and dazzled. Wanted to make sure that this just wasn't some type of bowling fluke so I shot it again, but I shorted my swing and my arm naturally compensated by pulling the shot left, but this just didn't matter to the SLASH. She took the pull and rolled with it, ball caught the oil and rode 18, made the turn and left me a solid ten, but the ball was not done. The power alone sent the 7 into the wall and then across the deck right into that lone 10. Now those guys were down on the lanes trying to see what ball it was and how it was drilled. I was impressed with its hold in the oil and then its recovery once it caught the dry. I moved my shot all night long and never really came into any serious problems that just weren't poor shots.

This is really a good ball; it reacts well to good shots and high hits. Haven't really had any light hits with it but the oil seemed to have no effect on it. Did experience some carry though and the ball ran through it like a yellow light getting ready to go red. This is also one of those faith balls, were right when you think the shot is bad and you drop your head, then when you look up and the pins are down and that X is flashn'. The ball doesn't give up even when you do, as I did, as I tired out.

The only problems I had with the ball; were that on some shots the ball got the pins airborne, which could have been due to my speed or pull on the ball, but in any case it left some solids in those situations. I came into contact with 1 split, and 1 solid 5 on a head pin shot. (Yeah that’s what I said) Another problem but not really, was the fact that this ball doesn't have very good carry on Brooklyn shots and that's okay cause we shouldn't be rewarded for not hitting the right mark.

All and all this is a wonderful hundred dollar ball, at least that's how much I paid for it w/o drilling. Get the ball put a drill on it your comfortable with and hit the lanes, and be careful on how much you fall in love with this ball cause your other balls will get jealous. Smooth and readable. You know when its going to break right and break wrong. Also, be careful cause this ball will draw out your line quickly and you might strike too much. Good Skill and Great Bowling. Make this ball apart of your family!!!

Higher speed lefty, medium revs.
Working on a looser arm swing (Using Jowdy's "Over / Under theory).

Ring finger: 4.625"; 1/8 reverse, lateral 1/2 left
Middle Finger: 4.75"; 1/8 reverse, lateral 1/8 right
Thumb: 0 lateral, 1/4 reverse; 1" oval
PAP: 5", 1" up

Ball wt.: 15 lbs.

Ball Drilled: 5 x 4, with 3/4" weight hole, 1-1/2" deep.

Bowled on Wednesday with the Slash. Stopped in a center I hadn't bowled in before. I threw 1st ball standing 16 targeting 8 (slid at 18), left the 2-7, chopped the 2 straight back. Moved my feet 4 right to 20, target to about 12 (slid at 22).Left the 2-7-8, chopped the spare left 7 pin.
Moved my feet to 22, squared up, hit 15 going away out to 12. (slid at 22). Went sheet for 258.

Changed balls, took out Storm Banshee (drilled stacked 3-3/8 x 3-3/8).
Moved feet to 18, target 10, (slid 18), left a 9 pin. Moved feet to 19, target 11 out to 7. Threw next 4. Lane man was oiling for league, so I sat for about 15 minutes. Guessed, and moved feet to 16, target 7, tripped a 4 pin for a strike. Left a couple of 9 pins. Shot 236.

3rd game I went back to the Slash, feet at 19, target 11 out to ANYWHERE...Left a 9 pin, went sheet until the last ball in the 10th, moved in 2 boards, swung out to 5, pocket 7-10, with a messenger taking out the 7, for 279.

Both balls were coated with Doc's Magic Bowling Ball Elixir. I was using Ron C's Magic Carpet for the first time in both balls. Rolling at about 18-19 mph, medium-high revs. I did nor like this ball the first few times I threw it...Ball fit problems. Worked on the thumb hole, a bit and seemed to help. Overall it is a replacement for the Track Elite, with a more aggressive cover.

This ball starts up early with a very predictable strong arc.

My Slash has a stacked drilling with the Pin under the ring finger.
I maintain a clean factory surface of 600.

As a tweener, I can move in and swing this ball and get recovery, more-so than the GP2.

Both balls are a critical part of my arsenal.

16lb
pin 3"
top weight 3.05 ozs

This ball was suggegsted an layed out by a track staffer. Pin next to ring cg at 60 degrees, axis was 5  1/4" from the pin on the center line. At first i couldnt carry much with this ball, then i took a bigger drill bit an took my side weight down to 0 from 3/4 an what a difference it has made. This ball is very smooth an hooks a ton. The way i have it set up it is not a good ball for the fresh but carry down this ball is awesome!!!

I drilled my Slash 5.5 x 3 with the pin over the fingers and the balance hole on my axis (shiny surface) - I drilled this ball to go long and have a strong arc and I am not disappointed. This ball goes long and arcs hard to the pocket with great hit. What I like about this ball is the cover is VERY versatile. It can be easily shined and brought back to surface with a quick trip to the spinner. The Core also makes this ball very easy to get the desired reaction you are looking for. So far this ball reminds me a lot of a V2 sanded with better hit. A great ball at a great price.

The Slash is in my opinion the most versatile ball in Track's line-up. I have three Slash's to review.

Ball #1 - Pin is 4". I drilled this ball 5x3 pin above the fingers with a hole 1" from the axis. Polished with clean-n-polish. This is the ball that I use most often. The polish allows me to get the ball through the heads with ease and this ball has great recovery. This ball eats up your typical house shot.

Ball #2 - Pin 2 1/2". This ball was drilled 4x3 with the pin under ring finger hole also 1" from axis. I keep this ball with more surface to read the lane sooner. This ball picks up a roll about 4'-5' sooner than ball #1 and is used mostly in tournaments.

Ball #3 - Pin 2". This ball is drilled with the pin under middle finger and the cg in the center of my grip. This ball has very tight flares and not allot of change in direction. I use this when the lanes get tougher.

I don't think anyone could go wrong adding a Slash to your arsenal. Surface adjustments are very easy and help the ball do what you want it to.

The Slash I drilled was to replace one of my Crunch Time balls that saw much use throughout the year.  It has a 2” pin drilled 4 ½ by 5 (pin next to my ring finger), with no extra hole.  I polished it with Track Clean and Polish, as I was replacing one of my pearlized Crunch Times.  The ball rolled just as expected. It is very readable with nice push through the heads and a fairly strong move on the backend.  I have had success with it on most patterns, including the walled up league shots and the tough flat conditions. With the exception of very dry heads or very slick backends, this ball will work.  This is a highly recommended ball for all skill levels. I will carry this ball in my tournament arsenal until Track releases the next generation of the ball (which I’m sure they will).

By far the most versitle ball made by Track.  I drilled mine with the pin below the bridge, and the cg kicked right an inch and a half.  Out of the box, it was very strong in the mid lane, and still had good backend.  I polished it, and it made the ball much longer, with a strong backend reaction.  Both surfaces gave me a good look with the ball on a variety of conditions.  This ball will fit almost any style, and depending on the surface, it will work on a lot of different lane conditions.

This ball has my favorite weight block of all time.
The proven elite core.

I drilled mine like all the other balls Track has made
with this weight block.

I put the pin under my ring finger cg 1 1/2 inches to the right
x hole 1 inch past my PAP, I left it at box finish.

This ball reads the midlane well while still having
pop on the backend.

Combining my drilling pattern with this ball
makes it the perfect benchmark ball for a variety
of conditions from house shots to PBA patterns.

It is one ball every bowler should have,
from league bowler to tournament bowler.

Layout: pin 4.5" from PAP over ring finger, c.g. near grip center with no extra hole

This has got to be one of the most predictable balls I have ever thrown.
I can use it on an extremely walled house shot without having the ball over-react to the dry outside boards - a huge plus for high-rev bowlers.
I have played outside 2nd arrow on heavier oil patterns and it rolls up smooth with tons of energy.
I have played inside 4th arrow and this ball gives me a great midlane read while saving enough energy to turn on the backend and carry.

This is definitely the first ball out of the bag for me.
