Jack Jurek Throwing a KE
« on: March 09, 2008, 10:32:51 AM »
Heard from one of my guys at the Show today that Jack Jurek was throwing a Kinetic Energy and looked to have the nuts but he thinks the Storm Rep. (Chris Schlemmer) Talked him out of it. He Thinks it cost him the title. But in the End it's Jack's decision so I feel bad for Jack. Congrats to Rhino who's had a phenomenal rookie year.

However on the positive side it shows that guys on tour are using the New TRACK stuff and obviously having success with it.

Just curious, but there are 3 tournaments left this season, and we have barely seen a Track ball.  This is a success?

Considering in the past couple years you didnt see alot on TV either? PA and Wes were the only guys making shows with them and then nothing like what they are making now with the Ebonite Factory producing their equipment.

Rebuilding a major brand takes time. Hammer wasn't an overnight rebuilding success and I would think the powers that be at Track weren't thinking it was going to be a smash hit on tour immediately. There are still limits in the line and holes that Tour guys need to have plugged before they will sign or throw the new equipment. It all takes time to build the reputation of having good equipment and Track will be no different.

it might not be a success on tour, but a lot of my league bowlers are throwing some major scores with the new Track stuff.

You always saw track on tv!!! When Amleto was throwing he always had track on the shows. When Wes was throwing Track, they were always on shows. Track is not having any presence on tv anymore. Mitch Beasley is the only pro staffer from track. He hasn't made a show yet. I think so far track has been on the show once or twick with Ritchie Allen. I think honestly because everything that track makes is skid flippy. This is not a good combo on sport shot or PBA shots. But of course this is my opinion. Everything I have thrown on sport shots or other people throw were all control bowling balls.

I will add this:

Wes threw the Power Machine on television ALOT last season. I believe he was using the PM on every telecast but one.

NOW.....IMHO all of the new stuff is better than the Power Machine(which was a huge favorite of mine).

Kinetic Energy is a keeper it is preety smooth stronger ball for me when the heads go away and lets me send it out and back. Most of the time 12-3 or 4 and back at the south point here in vegas, ball hits terrific and is not snappy at all.

You can't compare the Track of Amletto's and Steve Hoskins Haydays to the Track of the last few years. The symetric stuff back then and Pre-Particle Covers they had were some of the best ever. I made alot of money throwing Tritons and the Heat! The last two or three years you only saw Wes or PA on the Shows and Then PA quit and went back to Ebonite. Those guys are good enough to throw anything and make it work for them but when a player of PA's ability quits he must feel there is a good reason for it. Now Wes is just a Freak (No Pun Intended) He can make any ball look awesome. My point was that Track is making small steps in a positive direction and that is always a good thing. Maybe if they sign a bigger name player with more experience and more versatility that made more shows that would bolster sales? Also I think its a big risk for someone of Mitch's situation to go out on tour with only 3 balls to choose from which may be why guys were reluctant to use them.

Good points, Billy. I liked the old Track stuff and after the takeover, I bought a lot of the "old" stuff at some great prices and I'm looking to buy some of the "new" stuff for some upcoming tournaments and next year. But as you say, Ebo has to fill out the lines. I'm sure some pearls are coming, but since Ebo is no longer producing particle coverstocks (a mistake in my opinion), that may cause a few problems with some Trackheads like myself who really liked the "old" Track's particle balls. I'll be picking up a KE in the next few weeks because from what I saw in X's video, it reminds me of my favorite ball, the Robo Rule.

Billy,

It was an Awesome Revs.  Jack threw primarily the two Storm balls (Gravity Shift and Special Agent) and two Mo balls (the Revs and a duller LevRG).  I was fortunate enough to sit right behind him for the show.  Talked to Schlem about it afterward also....

Hope this helps,

Mike Scroggins threw a lot of Track equipment last year and the year before when he was making a bunch of shows.  I remember Robo Rules and the original Machine.  I distinctly remember a Machine he had that looked to be sanded to about 320-grit.

That's sucks for him.  I know Ryan Shafer said in a BTM article that one of his best attributes is not letting the ball reps talk him into using a drill layout he knows is not good for him.

A bowler at that level should know what's the best for himself when it comes to ball layouts and what not.  I wouldn't try something different just because a ball rep thinks he knows better.

Dude,

Jack wasn't talked into anything...he threw both Storm and Mo all week.  If you read the context of the OP, it was "thinks he was talked into it".  I was there and talked to both after the show.  He (Jack) used Schlem as a resource.  Jimmy Tomek (Mo's ball rep) made himself available to Jack as well.  It was all Jack's decision, influenced as well by what Mike Edwards was doing breaking down the lane  outside of where Jack wanted to play...Mo's stuff looked great in warmup, but they were opening up spots to throw to...
