Release date is in front of us.....does anyone have hopes or expectations of this ball? Questions on ball reaction or look it gives on the lane?

I have drilled two Kinetic Pearls.

One with a 4.5" pin to PAP, Drill Angle at 60° and VAL Angle at 68°. Very nice ball, clean through the fronts with nice length and a very strong move off the spot.

Second one is drilled Rico, this has to be one of the best core/cover/drilling combinations I have ever thrown. The ball is flat out awesome and carries everything. I have thrown it about ten games and finally had a game under 250. The last game I threw with it was 246. THe way it rolls you can tells its going to strike a lot. It will be hard to put this one down.

Do you think with the correct surface/layout that it could fall in between the Rising and Kinetic Energy?

I suppose you could. When I drill balls I try to use them to there strengths. if I find one that I really like then I will drill one or two more with differnt layouts and surface changes to see what I can get from the ball.

I have a Kinetic Energy and Kinetic Pearl with the same layouts. The Kinetic Pearl is longer and not as angular for me. The Kinetic Energy, I have create more launch angle in the front part of the lane and it has a very strong recovery.

Well I finally got to use my Kinetic pearl some more on our house shot on older wood lanes. I started the night with a KE RICO 1 layout shoot 255 (1 open) 207(clean) changed to the KP and shot 269 (clean) 257 (clean) playing 18 to 12 and had a phenomenal reaction and hit. Makes a fabulous 1-2 punch with the KE. Both are OOB. My layout for the KP is listed in this thread above.

Can't wait to drill another KP as well.

Mine will be in today.  I'm going with a layout similar to this:

http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/1/1720315158.jpg

With the exception of I will place the pin perhaps an inch higher, with the MB much closer to my thumb, so an X-hole will not be needed.  It'll likely wind up being a 5.5x3.5 layout.  My last day of the summer league is this Friday.  So I'll be throwing this and my UpRising before I make a review.

Closer to the Swarm.  The Rapid Fire Pearl is even more lengthy/angular and the Playmaker is less.

Thanks. I am looking for a versatile ball on light to med oil ths condition where I can play up the board or swing it and still recover if the need arise. I own the uprising and zone classic. Uprising is a touch too strong for that condition as it burn up before reaching the pin deck while the zone classic is great for playing up the board or a small swing from 12 to 5. Move any deeper the ball have a hard time recovering. I am looking at those balls I mentioned that I think fits the bill and have a hard time choosing only one because I can only buy one more ball this year.

The KP looks real attractive both in terms of look and specs just wondering if it gives me the reaction I want?

If you have any hand, it should do just fine on those conditions.  I think paired with your Uprising those two balls could make a good 1-2 punch as well.

The Pearl looks and rolls great.  I have a relatively weak layout on it and kept it oob.  Even with the long heavy oil I have here, as long as it didn't go out any further than 10, it made smooth arc into the pocket.  244-279-256 the first night out.  I can see on shorter/lighter oil, this ball can be a monster.

If you want length and a more angular reaction than XE, you will need to consider a different layout. That is a 5.5 inch pin from PAP at least. Would suggest maybe 4.5 inch pin, slightly stronger mass bias placement. Maybe use between 45-60 drilling angle and 30-40 degree val angle. This should get you pretty close. I just laid one out that is 65 x 4 by 30. I haven't thrown it yet but will post feedback on how it compares to my 65 by 5.5 by 65 KP.

I would definitely do what Lou suggested.  He was the one that helped me get my layout straight on the Pearl.  He won't steer you wrong.

The rg and diff numbers of the Playmaker and Kinetic Pearl are similar and I get similar reaction from my Playmaker and when I tested the KP, both pearls and both from the same plant! Just my $.02, Bruce

I am somewhat surprised to hear that. I think the Playmaker I threw must have been an absolute freak of nature.

Playmaker is symetrical, with 15 lb ball, 2.45 rg and .051 diff.
The Kinetic Pearl is asymetrical, with 15 lb ball, 2.46 rg, .044 diff, .008 int diff.
I know on house slots, a lot of times my stuff tends to blend into each other at times. On a flatter condition, you would notice a difference in reaction between the two. Both are great pieces but both have totally different cores and covers.
