Random Track Thoughts...Part 1
« on: July 12, 2006, 06:11:33 PM »
HEY FASTTRACKERS!

I decided to write this thread up because I was looking through some of my old reviews and the funny thing about this is, some reviews were at a point in time where I had only thrown just one of a particular ball. Below I attempt to explain my case as to how between my reviews that I posted back then and my thoughts on them now have changed greatly just in a period of about 4-6 months to as far back as a year. To use an outline, I'm going by how Track has released them from most recent to past releases!

Machine:
I originally had written a review on the Machine back on March 24 of the current year. This is when it had a 4 1/2" Pin Above the Ring Finger with the MB at 30 degrees with a weight hole. To be honest, I really loved this ball in the beginning. If any of you ever watched the video I posted for this (http://media.putfile.com/The-Machine-Video-Package) you see exactly how smooth the reaction is to the pocket. That was then and this is now! I went through the rejuvenator process thinking that it was just very oil soaked. After getting it back post-rejuvination I thought this would be the ticket to getting that reaction I had when I first got it back! This wasn't the case, in the past few weeks with conversations per Rick, I decided to take a burgundy scotch brite to it and laid it over with some Clean 'N' Sheen. Horrible carry to almost no carry at all. I practiced with it as recently as earlier tonight and out of 10 shots I threw, 9 out of those 10 were all 10 PINS! This is no joke, you can't make this stuff up! Now per the advice of Del Warren, I'm going to take a burgundy to it once again and follow that with a White Scotch Brite. This is my final attempt to save the reaction I once had. If this doesn't work, I'm simply giving it to a friend of mine to which I owe a small debt to! From personal experience, be careful with this cover, it doesn't take to handling surface alterations very well at all! Be very careful, I have heard many great things about the Machine and yes I totally agree that this is a great ball from Track but I could be wrong, and of course this is all just an opinion!

Robo Rule:
I currently am on my second Robo Rule. I haven't gone overboard like Clint has, mind you! The first one I had punched up was a 4 1/2" Pin High Above the Ring Finger with the MB at 30 degrees and a weight hole about 1" past my PAP. This was a wonderful ball in my opinion and I almost wish I had never sold it. Dain, Evolution Tag Team Member # 3 kept begging and pleading to me for this ball and after much deliberation, and a certain disclosed amount of dollars, the ball was his! I shot 299 with this ball back on Feb. 8 of this year. Ded Gum 4 Pin! I also used this ball for the majority of the year I bowled the All-Star League to wrap up High Individual Match Points and Most Valuable Player Awards as well using this exact ball. I got my 2nd Robo Rule through the Pure Approach Clinic hosted by Del himself (NOTE: If you get a chance to go to one of these, I highly encourage you too, you will NOT be disappointed!) He originally stated for me to go with the Machine; however, due to limited 15#, I decided to get another Robo Rule. This ball was laid out with a 4 1/2" Pin Below the Ring Finger with the MB at 5 o'clock strong and a very tiny weight hole in the area of my PAP. This ball hooked even more than the Pin Above and I honestly thought at the time I had a great 1-2 combo with the 2 Robo's in my possession. My opinions I posted back on January 18 of this year are pretty much the same now also! The Robo is a prime quality ball and I've recommended alot of them to people that have asked me about a ball for the slick stuff!

Rule Delta 1:
I had a total of 3! The first one was my favorite, I used it the longest and got the best performance with it. Laid out with a 4 1/2" Pin Above the Ring Finger, with the Pin at 1 o'clock with the MB at 5 and CG kicked out about 2 inches, this ball was a complete hook monster. What a dense core Track produced when this hit the market! Dain also bought this one from me and still currently possesses it! I purchased a second one with the same layout; however, it just didn't have the same power as the first one. It could have been my mindset or what not but that is just the way I feel about it. I sold the second one to another one of my youth bowlers. Evolution Tag Team Member # 7 "The Big Show" Zach West. Zach still throws this ball and it has become his favorite Track ball overall! Finally, I didn't wanna give up on this one, so I found one on closeout and had it drilled Pin Below the Ring Finger. I really tried to make this ball work and I actually might've overkilled it in the process. 9 games later, it was in the hands of BR User TheOriginalChewmiester, my good friend and Tag Team Member # 2, Michael Bradford! It fit Bradford just right as he shot 650 as soon as he got it from the shop! Overall, a very dense core and a likable one in the beginning; but, two more later and this ball is absolutely no more for me!

X-Ception 5.0:
I have had 3 of these! I'm currently still using the third one as of right now. The first two I can pretty much sum this up really quicklike: OVER/UNDER HORRIBLY! That's pretty much said and done for the first two, I could never get the reaction I expected and when I posted my first review on the 2 that I had at the current time, this ball made absolutely no sense to me! The review I posted was alittle over a year ago, I pretty much made up my mind never to purchase this one again. I went by an old adage that states "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me!" However, one night I was working and I had seen this 15# X-Ception 5.0 sitting on the display, not getting any attention what-so-ever! It was like a puppy in the window at a pet store. Plus, my pro shop was getting ready to put it on closeout. I immediately jumped on it and I just had a hunch that this had to be it. I talked it through with my friend Nathan and he punched it up that night. We went with a 4 1/4" Pin Below the Ring Finger. CG kicked out about an inch with the MB at 5 (as usual) and a weight hole about an inch past my PAP. My outlook on this ball has most definitely changed. I had really lost hope in this one until this third one I'm currently throwing now! This ball is immediately the first one out of the bag on almost every league night I bowl now!

Stay tuned FASTTRACKERS! Next report and thread, "Random Track Thoughts..Part 2" I will talk about the Arsenal series! God Bless You All and I hope this may help you in anyway possible!

Michael,

I just picked up a Machine, haven't drilled it up yet, but I'm wondering what you think went wrong with it?  Did the ball gradually lose reaction, or just die one day out of nowhere?

Clint

Hey Clint,

Here is the physical timeline of my Machine buddy!

Beginning (March 24) -- What a great ball, when I made my video, I was in between 0-50 games with it. It had a wonderful reaction and fit properly in my arsenal.

Midway (May - 2 months later) -- Before I did anything to it, I constantly keep things cleaned and maintenanced them as well. I noticed a decreased reaction yes, so I decided to have it rejuvenated. After this process I thought it would come back to life. Not so on this one! A few weeks later, I decided to have it plugged and re-drilled because I thought the layout for me was too weak! It still didn't help in my eyes.

Ending (Last two weeks) -- Rick and I have had many conversations about my problems with the Machine and he and I agreed that it wasn't even as strong to either one of us in the beginning. He suggested the burgundy scotch brite and a dose of Clean 'N' Sheen. I actually did this yesterday and I've never witnessed such weak power hitting the pins. I left way too many weak 10s! My final hope was to do as Del Warren said and hit with a burgundy scotch brite and finish it with a white one. I just got done practicing once again! Still the same freakin result! Only this time, the over/under returned! The ball has been given to a friend of mine to which I was talking about oweing a debt too!

Don't let this discourage you from getting one or keep you from drilling yours if you already have it. This just seems to me to be another flashback of how I hated the X-Ception 5.0 in the beginning and now look at me. I absolutely love the 5.0 now! Hope this helps buddy! God Bless You and have a great week!

Michael,

Thanks for the rundown on some recent balls you've used.  I'm paying particular attention to your thoughts on the Machine as I'm thinking of buying a used one off Ramtart.  All things being relative, should I take a chance on this ball?  I don't want it "dying" on me after 50 games.  I know Ram has had some issues with its' performance.  I'm in the process of subtracting the Rule and possibly the Reactive from my arsenal and adding a polished Delta and the Machine.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Hey KG,

Anything is worth a shot once buddy! That is how I look at it dude! If you can get it cheap, then go for it! I'm considering getting another one and giving it one more shot. However, this will be put on hold because the Equation and Mean Machine are next on the list. I do see the Machine coming back to the fold in my arsenal again one day, but for now this is how I think and feel. Thanks for reading! God Bless You All and have a great week!

Michael,

Nice post bud.

My comments on what you listed:
I have not altered the surface on a Machine yet. I have never had to have a ball rejuvinated using the cleaning method I always list.

The 5.0 was very good to me.....I didn't like the surface once I changed it though.

I like the Robo....I have not had too much of a chance to use it though.

To the Delta....VERY good ball OOB....the surface did not take kindly to polish at all. Polised you could have this ball maxed out and it would go forever.

Hey Carl,

Whatever you do, do NOT touch the surface of the Machine unless it is to clean it and keep it properly maintenanced dude! Rick and I have been talking via over the phone and we both have been getting almost similar reactions with the Machine as well. If it is working wonders for you, keep it the way it is! LOL! As far as the 5.0 went, 3rd time was the charm for me! This ball is the benchmark ball in the bag! I use it just about every league night! I honestly cannot wait til I have the Mean Machine and Equation in the bag. I just feel something special with one of these two. Its just one of those hunches I'm getting. God Bless You All and have a great week!
