Tired of rumors? HERE IS YOUR TRACK LEGION Q&A section!
« on: July 09, 2007, 07:02:47 AM »
Guys/Gals I know you have heard many statements about the new Track Equipment. I have read ALOT of them throughout this entire website. If you have specific Questions please post them here. Myself or Rick will answer your questions as best we can. Both of us have had alot of exposure to the new equipment and what they do on the lanes......for every style of bowler. We will be able to answer any question you have.

Thanks,
Carl

I've been looking, but I haven't seen pics of the cores for the new balls? Are they available, or is ebo being secretive about them as well?

Not sure about the others, but the Rising looks to be a secret....at least according to what is posted on bowlingball.com

I was talking with my coach today and he mentioned the problem I may be having with transition on the sport shot is due to my equipment having too much flare. I did confirm that the flare rings were quite wide on the Black Widow Monday. Anyhow, long story short, he said we may need to look at some equipment strickly for the sport shot. He was saying more agressive equipment with low flare. What, if anything in or coming from the Track line would be possibles?

An aggressive ball that has little flare is a difficult thing to find. The lowest flaring ball in our lineup is the Temper. I suspect your coach may be suggesting a high flaring ball with a low flaring layout. I know you greatly value his word, so please double check with him and see if he believes that would work. I will be able to sugget a layout to you after that point.

That may be what he was refering to.  He did talk about the layouts so I could have missed something.  It was a "something to think about" discussion not during a lesson.  And yes I do value his word.  I'll be seeing him Saturday, so I'll double check and get back.  You are probably correct.

Kinetic and Temper core pics are definitely out.  Just got them at the shop last week.

The Rising's core(megatron) is the first of it's kind and is being kept under wraps until closer to the release date.

Yes, the ball landed on his head.

Are there pics on the web anywhere?

Hey Carl and Rick, Quick question on the Mean Machine, mine was lane damaged a while back, and had to be resurfaced by the in-house proshop, ever since it has not been as aggressive as before. What is a good surface to put on this ball for a stroker on a heavy THS? or how can it be brought back to OOB?  Thanks for your time.

If you want to get the Mean Machine aggressive for a heavy oil house pattern I would suggest hitting it with a 500grit abralon pad BY HAND.....then hit it with 1000grit abralon pad BY HAND. If you need adjustment from that point let Rick or I know and we will assist you from there.

To piggyback off of this, I've see a insane change in my MM since I went to 1000 abralon a while back.  With the reduction in length and more violent backend, if the ball isn't clocked at 18-18.5 mph at the pins(starting at 35 and rolling out to 2-3) I was going through the nose-at the least.

So hopefully, this is all you need to bring your MM back.

Sorry for being off topic, but that just makes me wanna ask what's the difference between using abralon by hand and by using a spinner? And, would it make any difference by hitting the ball with 2000 first, then 1000, other than hitting it with 500, then 1000? If it does, would you mind to the differences?

abralon when used on a spinner gives me more of a shine then by hand.also you will get a better surface going lower grit to higher grit then higher to lower.it's all about opening up the pores on the ball then going to the final finish.

Brings back memories of this one guy I used to cross with at tourneys that swore by 80grit by hand for his oily gear. It looked fugly, but it rolled well.

Carl, Thanks for the info, I will give the by hand finish a try this weekend and report back how it went, I have been adjusting the surface with a spinner.     P.S. What took so long to answer back to my post 19 whole minutes was killing me.
