No he doesn't youc an see it on the side of the ball in the first video.  If he does use it it's only in to the first nuckle.

The thumb is in, all the way. The layout is Drill #1. Pin 1 inch over center grip. In retrospect, I should have went with #2. It is a lot stronger than I intended.

Off the top of my head, I think its 5 1/2 x 1. My pro shop driller has the same PAP so I never have to tell him, so I never remember lol.

Even if it was in only to the first joint then he would still be using his thumb. The only thing with that is that his balls has the span messured for it. Other then that it would still count as him using his thumb. He does use his thumb all the way. He just has his hand in a position where the entire palm of his hand is on the ball. Its a good position when you want to get around the ball alot without getting into a "spinner" type of release.
